Hi there.
I was thinking about giving a try and ask for guidance here on this great forum since I always found great information about any issues I had before.
I am going to relocate myself to the U.K. in a couple of weeks so I am searching for the best (affortable%affective) ways to promote my future "business" there, locally: it's about the small renovations niche like plastoring&painting - looking for small projects only, for start.
I was wondering what's the best approach :
Fb, IG, landing pages, posting to local free classified webpages, etc.
Just wondering what you recommend or maybe I could get some offers of promoting services from the members of this forum.
Thanks in advance.

Moved to Lounge, as you'd not get replies in WTB from regular members.

I'm the US the first thing I would recommend is a Google business listing.

I'm guessing it is the same across the pond... That's more long term.

Here we have something called Craigslist that is free (ish) to advertise. I have found that if you advertise the actual price you will charge prominently you will get jobs

I found that in the UK they have sites that connect the clients with the service providers, sites that you have to pay a fee to get jobs...I wonder how that works

In the us they have those too... They work great for the company selling the leads and like crap for the contractors generally.

I would highly recommend not going that route... That being said.. Someone from your side of the world should weigh in..
We have one here called home advisor that should be illegal imo... Another called Angie's list that is not as bad.

Some questions to ask if your are looking to join a platform like that:
1. How many contractors so you sell each lead to.

2. Over what period of time do you sale the leads after they come in.

What would really piss me off is when I paid 20 bucks for a lead that was three days old.

I immediately call the client and they are irate because they chose a contractor days ago and are sick of getting calls

I wouldn't start with an online campaign

Instead, I'd join every CIVIC GROUP you can find

For example, if you migrated from one country to UK, find community groups from your country and join those groups. Be friendly. Get known and pass around your business card.

Same with community organizations or even political groups.

Remember: every SOCIAL GROUP is a potential source of DIRECT or INDIRECT customers. What's an indirect customer? Your name gets passed on from people in the group you joined.

Why should you care? People are more likely to take a referral from people they KNOW or think they know.

once again I am amazed by the generosity of this distinguished group of people, I can't be thankful enough...I will keep you up to date with my project.
