[Important bounce rate fix!] - Do you have a single page website?

I just installed this one all of my sites and my client's sites. It works great, thanks for sharing this. A site that had been 72-73% for the past 6 months just had its first 42% day. Awesome.

This works. I'm not sure whether it will impact on serps. But it has impacted on my morale. I'm well pleased though.

It seems the average viewer hangs around for 25min rather than a min which was my previous metric.

My bounce rate metric was 85% it's now 7%.

Can you please explain how this code can be used in blogger blog? I added in the 'body' section and nothing happened.

The code may have changed since earlier this year. Check the current analytics code and place it within the settimeout block. If the site allows you to enter javascript, you're set to go. If it filter JS, then this trick won't work.

Blogger blog allows javascripts in the template. I just can not figure out where to put this code....in 'head' or 'body' or in widgets or after meta tags! Just going for a try n error method.
 
so coming back to this I think its safe to say this does not help with serps but it helps by giving you accurate data.
 
Better work on REAL bounce rate decreases than just faking the stats. Higher page speeds, more interesting content, etc etc...
 
this is a fix to get real bounce rate stats bro.
 
Yeah I misunderstood as well initially, thinking this was faking it, but it will only send data back to Google while the page is open! Hence time of site is accurately reported, and Google stops seeing visitors are quick bounces. Great contribution but I'm surprised others reported it didn't affect SERPS - I thought bounce was a significant factor.
 
i guess bounce rate only affects a very very very small % of your rankings when you factor in all the other stuff.
 
So this is solely to increase Bounce rate for SEO purposes?
 
It works...it reduced the bounced rate from 70% to 50% now. At 50% it's stagnant. Why it's not coming down further?
 
That's an easy answer.... because people are bouncing off your website..
 
It's good to see people starting to understand what the bounce-rate metric is actually for. Nice little bit of code!
