I second what most people have responded. Really that's not enough. I'm currently working on a website that has about 100 pages of content, roughly 250 backlinks from various sources and a domain aged about 8 months. I'm still only making about $10 per month on it as it's relatively new. Regardless of what methods you're using, be it blackhat or whitehat or whatever, you got to be offering something at least remotely useful to the user. I would say focus on making more content before backlinks and anything else. It's really important that you have content. Unless you're a one page wonder with thousands of backlinks you will not see any improvement in your SERP rankings. In fact, even if you happen to jump to page 30 now for some reason, I guarantee you'll see a fluctuation, i.e. you'll jump from page to page randomly. So seriously, focus on content and internal SEO.

After you have a decent amount of content, you can start doing some linkbuilding.

I would highly recommend using the following:

Forum posting: Find a few forums related to your niche, don't put any signature initially. Try and do 3 posts a day per forum (this should take you no more than about 20 minutes). Be sure to keep track of your post count. Once you reach about 30 posts in each forum stick in your signature with your website link (make sure you check the TOS of the forum about advertising first though, probably best to check this first before even posting to make sure you can have links in signature).

I would then get some more articles done, like you've been doing. Something like the best spinner would help here. Just write a couple articles and make sure you make them as unique as possible when you're spinning them. Stick your link either internally or externally in the authors box.

From here I'd move to blog posting, use a program like scrapebox or try and find high pr blogs related to yours. Make sure you write a decent comment and praise the blog owner as you're comment is more likely to get accepted.

Link exchanges help also - but the problem is, no one will link to you if you're a relatively new site with little or no content so I would wait on this. You could try textlinkads or search forums for link exchanges - perhaps there are some people who are willing to trade links with you.

Link wheels are also good. There's alot of info in this forum about link wheels, and some pretty good services being offered by BH so check them out. Once your link wheels are up , i'd get them blasted at pligg sites and get some backlinks to them.

Video sites are also good for backlinks and traffic (some of them). Download a couple videos, watermark them (or make your own vids). Upload them to sites like videobomb, youtube, or use something like tubemogul.

Again, these are just a few things you could do to get links, there are tons of ways to do this. I'd highly recommend that you don't stress so much about your SERP ranking and income off the site. Remember, you gotta have content first . Content is king.

Don't feel dissuaded either. I have personally felt like giving up at times, but I know that regardless of whether you use white hat or blackhat, work is required. You seriously cannot expect to rank well or make money with little or no work. Unless you're a smart cunning bas***d with an ingenious get rich quick plan like some of the people in this forum have and have made some serious money, you're in the boat with the rest of us.

Those are some serious link building suggestions. With all that how did you end up with only 250 links though? :) After that many months, you should be upwards of over 10k!

It's a good idea for the OP to take some of this advice to heart and apply it to his efforts.
 
I have a serious problem with keyword research. Apparently, when I first checked out the keyword I'm using right now, it got 2k searches a month. I looked again for the hell of it and now it's getting 50. How can I find keywords? Any tools you guys suggest? I honestly don't have the money for practically anything right now.

But seriously, this happened to both the websites I've been making. It says it's getting decent ammounts of searches, then i'll build up backlinks and get my websites on the first page and 0 traffic.

Well there have been a few times where I have used MS and it did a funky switch like this on me.

I loaded keyword data and everything looked great for a term. I came back a week later to look at it again and suddenly the data change DRAMATICALLY. It was no longer a low competition term, but quite high. It went from 30k of allintitle to over 300k. That's a big difference, and I doubt that would show up in the span of a week with new sites for this term.

This is why I cross reference all my data with MS. Sometimes its correct while other times I have found these inconsistencies. So just always double check your data against other sources.

Actually those are 250 indexed links. And also, during the first few months I was focusing on design and content as it isn't a trash site :). I only started my link building efforts mid may. By the end of this week I'm looking to hit about 1500 inlinks.

I'm also looking at using a Xrumer Blast + Social bookmarking to web2.0 properties sometime this week also, lol.

Do you think I'll get sandboxed if I did it to the site directly, I'm not entirely sure, the domain itself is only about 8 months old. Sorry to OP for asking my own question :P

You just need to be consistent with your link building. If you get 1000 links in one day, but then don't have any more coming to your site for a week or two. It's better to be consistent with 50 to 200 links per day or every other day consistently. Remember that the links aren't going to get indexed the exact same day you make them. ;)

When I downloaded a newer version of MS, the default in the keyword research section had changed from Broad to Exact. Something similar may have happened to you, as this would have caused an extreme drop in the results displayed

Really.. I haven't noticed that myself. Personally I always use Phrase Match.
 
depends on the keyword you're dealing with, and how broad or exact it is. Everyone has their prefrences. Because I construct my sites around a pyramid structure I generally look at different results depending on which level keyword Im investigating
 
I was aware of that :). But thanks for your input. I was more interested in knowing whether a Xrumer blast would get me sandboxed but no worries I found out! Thanks anyway ;)
