Im quitting smoking cigarettes

nobody likes a quitter :D

only your will power can do this..about me i ll never quit smoking

Hey, I haven't smoked for over a month now, going from smoking 20 cigarettes and a cannabis joint a day to nothing, with no cutting down, no patches, no nothing, just straight stopped.

I quit with my girlfriend, and yes, for the first week it is hard. What helped me the most was thinking - 'Hey, I've already done 3 hours, why turn back now?' And then, 'I've done 24 hours, why turn back?', and it's built up from there.

Decide, know in yourself that you want to quit, but my best advice is - don't build it up to be something that is ultra-hard, because it's really not. The media and society builds it up to be a major achievement, hey, it is hard but you soon get over it. I still want a cigarette now, but to be completely free feels much better than a little short term satisfaction. And the money I've saved...damn! I can actually live off what I earn off the internet now.

I have plans to smoke in the future, when I'm older and richer, but for now I've decided that I don't want to smoke, and nothing will convince me otherwise.

P.S. You truly notice the awful smell of cigarettes on smokers when you stop, trust me.

Good luck, and if you need any support give me a PM, I'm normally always lurking.

YOU CAN DO IT!

Beware of the dreaded SMOKING DREAMS!!! LOL

You will DEFINITELY have dreams about smoking. You will wake up thinking you have started smoking again. Don't sweat it though. You'll make it.

Cold turkey is the way to go. You can make it.

It's not what you're giving up, it's what you're GAINING!

Best of luck!

Definitely cold turkey is the ultimate solution. But, you must want to quit.

5 years ago I quit, cold turkey. Bought a pack, smoked 3 of them and suddenly decided to quit, for 3 days i carried almost a full pack and a lighter with me and didn't smoke. I didn't use any gums or patches and I know that these don't work.

You need to get over deprivation to make the cravings go away. You cannot just continue taking nicotine in your body and expect to quit.

Well, some said you cannot say you quit smoking in 12-14 months. That's true. One cig will ruin it.

I started smoking after 11 months, on my 2nd day of military service. It felt orgasmic :)

For years I'm trying to quit. I said to myself 'I'll quit before I get married', that didn't happen and later 'I'll quit when i have a child'. My daughter is 10 months old, and yeah I still smoke. It disgusts me recently, but can't quit.

So, that's my advice. One cigarette will pull you back. There is no thing as 'just one'.

i quit after 11++ years smoking cigarette (kretek without filter).

I tried 6 times and the last working for me.

some methods like gradually decreasing quantity or try electric didn't work for me.

just insist not to but, not ask, and throw away all cigar and matches from house.
ask people around to watch me.

after 1 week worst day, everything become better. after 1 month it's much much better. after 3 month i started hate the smell of smoke. :D

'til now almost 3 years I quit. i hope you succeed too.

Smoke cannabis instead. If you don't want to harm your lungs,
then get a vape! Burn one up..

Quitting smoking is a piece of cake. I do it all the time. ;)

Good luck my friend. It can be done. You have alot of support here obviously. It took lung surgery for this cat daddy to quit. Non-smoking related. Kicker is I still cheat.

Bite on a straw or a toothpick all day... Just so you could have something in your mouth that's not a cigarette and not food.

Get the allen carr easy way to quit smoking. Somehow it works and you just dont want to smoke anymore. I think I still have the audio book if you want it.

If anyone wants to get a real motive how to quit smoking, I encourage them to visit a cancer hospital .. just see how those people are suffering with cancers..

I wish you luck, because smoking is very bad habit leading to the terminal called "cancer",you have to decide once and for all to quit because of this.

Money, health, the horrible smell on your clothes, money, freedom, money.

Saying that, I will smoke a nice expensive cigar when I make my first million!

OK Guys,
who else here has done it?

Tips?

Advice?

Support?

Prayer?

Help! Lol

thank you!

I quit cold turkey in July '09 and never smoked again. There's NO reason you can't do the same thing! I'd suggest you take up running and lifting weights. So many reasons to do this (feels good, it can be fun, makes you healthier, gives you the kind of body that ladies drool over, etc.) but the main reason is that it will give you some motivation to stay away from cigarettes. I've worked so hard on running and made so much progress (I can run 3.5 miles nonstop now!) that I can't bear the thought of screwing up my lungs by smoking cigarettes. If you have a craving, go for a run or bust out some pushups. Exercise and smoking don't mix, and you will realize it.

Good luck!
