I'm having trouble setting up my YOUTOBE live stream.

Hi,
I recently started live streaming on one of my youtube channels, I created a description and title optimized for SEO, I also added viewers using the dashboard. But I still can't rank my stream. I see a lot of my competitors ranking with 1k viewers but only 100 people chatting in their chat box so I suspect most of them are fake viewers, but they are ranking very well. Am I missing a step or something in the ranking?

Yeah, ranking on YouTube Live isn’t just about SEO. It also depends on real-time engagement, watch time, chat activity, likes, and how quickly viewers join. Some streams use fake viewers, but focusing on real interaction and consistent timing usually works better long term.

What you’re seeing is pretty typical ranking on YouTube Live isn’t just about raw viewer count. It's about watch time, engagement (likes, chats), CTR from search or suggested videos, and especially traffic source diversity. Use the CTA. It's can fix everything about your channel.

Example: if you are streaming on gaming. You can give some gifts to your audience. You can say, “I will give a PUBG account to users who send 100 messages.” Reward your audience based on the behavior you want them to exhibit, and this will eventually become permanent.
 
Run live polls or mini giveaways during your stream to boost chat activity and watch time. More real engagement helps YouTube rank your live video higher.
