TLDR: My Machiavellian methods worked better than my honest methods.

I'm 16 years old currently and I've always wanted to make money to move my folks out of the hood. Since I was 13 years old I've gotten myself into shit like day trading, CPA, Forex, Drop shipping and it always failed. I think it's because I was naive and I was watching shit youtubers for advice combined with my impatience and lack of capital at the time. I'm currently blogging with $500 left to my name and I have about 10 months of runway before I have to work at Burger King again. The thing that made me make this post is when I was experimenting with content generation. I created a bunch of shit articles (most of the info is wrong) and to my surprise 10% of the articles are ranking on page one and the rest is ranking within the top 100 in the serps. The keywords I was ranking for was really low comp keywords (below 500 search volume) and although my serp positions are extremely sporadic (i.e. dropping from first page to 9th), most of the shit content seems to be ranking the same if not better than my handwritten ones that took me 2+ hours to make. And to top of off my shit articles currently takes me 20 min to make. That experience got me thinking about my past actions and methods. For example, when i needed a job last year, I applied to many places and not one place took me. But, as soon as I created a black hat method, I got a job very quickly. I've only made $0.90 with white hat methods and I was considering taking the plunge into black hat seo. If I do this, i could easily create 10 articles a day, 300 articles a month, 3000 articles a year. If I do it the white hat way i can only make 2 articles per day. Although I'm hesitant to do black hat for a couple of reasons.

Reasons Why I'm Hesitant
  • The most successful people i.e Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and Bill Gates created value. With shit content, I'm just wasting the user's time.
  • I never went through with any entrepreneur venture for more than 6 months. My lack of experience, patience, and capital is probably the reason for this.

I don't know what changed since i was 13, but I'm not interested in stuff people my age like. For example video games. That's probably why I can't connect with my peers in class. In my free time I like experimenting with stuff like SEO and reading case studies on reddit juststart. If anybody can give me a token of advice or their thoughts, I would appreciate it :)

Reading this, I can conclude that you are different from most of your generation and that you already have some experience behind you.
Man, you're only 16... Uh...

Anyway, you need to keep doing what you think is best for you.

I don't know what advice to give, but one thing is for sure...

You are very young and the years are ahead of you, let everything go its course, don't screw up and burn yourself, be persistent because today it is a rarity to see young people who are eager to create something else without it being through what they have taught us for decades.

"Go to school, be the best student, have the best grades, finish college, get a job in the profession and wait for retirement"

It’s wrong, but it’s a different topic.

I wish you all the best... A beautiful future is ahead of you ;)

Thanks for the response! It's really refreshing to see and interact with people who I have common interests with. If I talk about SEO in high school I’ll either confuse people or get laughed at as a “nerd”

The quote "Go to school, be the best student, have the best grades, finish college, get a job in the profession and wait for retirement" really hits close to home. My parents want me to go to college to get a stable job and I understand why. That’s what I believed until I was 13. The SEO dance is definitely not stable and you could go to zero at any time. But I also find it as an interesting battle between the authority sites and the underdogs.

To add to this, I’m thankful I currently have distance learning in school. Most schools now have distance learning due to Covid-19. Although it can get boring at times (looking at a computer screen for 10 hours straight), I rather build seo experience than watch my teacher read the same CNN article 4 TIMES IN A ROW.

"Go to school, be the best student, have the best grades, finish college, get a job in the profession and wait for retirement"

And do that but change the ˝get a job in the profession and wait for retirement˝.
Btw go back to Burger King again to have cache flow. When you set up your SEO hustle, leave it.
