OK,

I just wanted to tell everyone out loud that I'm the biggest coward on this forum, I have no balls.

I've been convincing myself for 6 months to start cold calls, I finally had the guts to do it last month... I got rejected on my first call I put the phone down and started to do what I do best... Get organic traffic through SEO/Social Media knowing damn right that if I cold call I can probably make a lot more money.

This shit has been playing on my mind for days, every night before I sleep, I have a schedule that I keep every day, I put down calls on my schedule but I find myself out of it and I feel like total shit after.

Moral of the story, I'm the biggest coward on this forum and for those wondering how old I am - 25.

With an attitude like that you will never succeed. Yes, cold calling can be a difficult / stressful thing to do and learn but I mean honestly, what do you have to loose? Chances are you will never see these business owners in your life anyways, so what is there to be scared about? They are just people man, and you'll never see them. So who cares if you screw up on the first couple of calls, its natural, hell I got rejected 12 times before I made my first sale.
 
Success is based on a multitude of failures. Sure you might feel like shit after the first few calls but with each failure you will learn a little bit more on how to succeed the next time. The only way you can really fail is if you give up. Just imagine if you cold called 10 people for 30 days, that is 300 calls worth of experience and I guarantee you it won't feel so shitty after a month of doing it, you'll have already built the habit and expanded your comfort zone.

I have severe social anxiety and cant even talk to people in person let alone a phone.

Fuck cold calls, hire somebody to do that shit for you.
 
If you can:
- Start working part time in bar as bartender.
- Try volunteering (on street, between people) for some non profit organisation.

Both above will help you in talking to strangers. 1-3 months and you will be able to talk to anyone you want.

Yeah and if you dwell on your failures and your procrastination to do something, you will NEVER learn what success is. What I said was to help him, not to discourage him.

@satyr85 - due to religious reasons I can't work in a bar but volunteering I'm going to look right away!

OP this is not alcoholic anonymous and admitting it is not the half battle.

Its a numbers game its same like trying to score a girl, with time you will learn just ignore the rejections and move on to another one.

The only way is you to get rejected over an over again until you just don't give a fuck. ...or you can take cold showers and shrink your dick to go along with your personality.
 
Hi mate, I was in your situation a few times when actually tried to find a job a few years ago.
I was totally feeling like a shit with every call with no positive response but guess what.. after hundreds of calls and 3 weeks of failures, I was hired to work as a developer for some leading casinos online.. totally deserved it.

You will cheer up a lot with your first positive answer, really! But you have to call and see a few people ignoring you before you get your first result.

Practice makes perfect, don't beat yourself up about it, the most confident people all built that confidence gradually. Also alcohol can help.
 
Zakhar - This is your conscious, suck it up bitch!!! Jk Jk, it's really hard at first especially for some people, I was like that. But like anything the more you do it the more it becomes natural. You get used to rejection, try it with women same thing. At first it feels like dying but once it happens enough you ignore it hah. It's a numbers game buddy!
 
Fear of failure is fairly common. The only way to get over it is to fail until you succeed.

This is true of most things. I like boxing and martial arts. The only way I became a good fighter was to get my ass kicked until I started kicking ass.
 
The best way to get over this is by turning it into a game. Make prank calls to businesses that's located far away from you. Don't use a script, just say anything. Try to sell them a hair comb for a million bucks. You're going to get rejected and that's what you want. Your main fear seems to be rejection. After getting rejected so many times, you'll become numb to it and that's when you should start making real cold calls.
