Hello guys,

I'm planning on entering a highly illegal niche (movie uploads) and the country I am living in at the moment is pretty strict regarding breaches of copywrite.

However, I have a friend who lives elsewhere and his country is very lenient and therefore unlikely to react to any copywrite claims.

If I get the offshore domain/hosting/vps (for uploads) proxies via bitcoins and send all funds to him, if he was to get caught, could I be implicated in any court cases (if I have been receiving payments from my friend).

Sorry if I've failed to get my point across, but thank you for reading and I genuinely appreciate any help I get.

Thank you.

Cheeky, don't do it, I had to flee my home country, now living in Asia, thanks to file-sharing, it is a hard biz too..

I just feel like it's highly unlikely that anything would materialise legally. But if it did, surely I'd be in the clear?

you ask stupid questions ofcourse if somebody want to find you they will even if you live in palestina.
its another discussion how much money you will make and will it be worth for someone trying to find you and your friend and shut down your operations. better choose other niche you will make more money legit way..

It's not really a stupid question though, is it? You just clearly haven't understood it. I know that people can find me if they want to, but if it seems like I am not affiliated with the site (apart from money being transferred to my bank from the 'owner') then they wouldn't be able to tie anything to me...

What if something happens and they do find you?

Is that something that you are comfortable thinking about as you operate?

I'm pretty sure that if you are in the USA that is a crime as well as could have you in civil court... you cool with that should you get nailed?

I'm fully aware that this website could land me in prison, my intentions are to keep it running for a short while to make some quick cash and then get rid of it before becoming too large. I am just researching this thoroughly as there are currently many websites doing this on a MASSIVE scale which seemingly get away with it for years on end, why can't I get some of this sweet pie too?

I'm pretty sure that was Bernie Madoff's thought process too.

I'm not judging you, Cheeky, I'm just trying to knock a little common sense in your head with this idea.

If you came up with mimicking this idea to make some sweet cash, then you can come up with others without that risk.

Movies niche or evergreen niches are both profitable.

Its just a matter of what you choose ;)

Sorry to burst your bubble bro but that's the very definition of being affiliated...

The thing about doing shady shit is you never think you're gonna get caught...until you do. And by then it's too late to save yourself.

You can throw a rock at the internet and hit a million legal ways to make money. If I were you I'd do one of those.

I don't get why people like the illegal movie download niche garbage.

It's riddled with copyright/litigation issues and converts terribly.

Seriously just put your efforts into another niche.

Movie uploading niche is pointless as there are loads of blackhat ways to make money violating copyright laws that don't result in criminal penalties and a very low chance of a lawsuit.

OP, I suggest finding another niche. Why do people take risks? Because the risks are worth the rewards. To me, the movie niche isn't even close to being worth getting caught. But if you still wanna go ahead anyway, I suggest the following:

-Use offshore hosting at a country with very lenient copyright laws (Netherlands, Malaysia, Sweden, etc)
-Acquire a bulletproof TLD (no .com, .net, .org, etc) - .to seems to be working fine
-Always use a VPN
-Never reveal your real info to anyone

There are a lot more to it, and I really don't think it is worth it. :)
Agreed to that, I think it's not worth the risk. Unless you have a large number of group that could make anyone of you anonymous. That have multiple tier of anonymity.

Best to read up on how other file sharers got caught in the news. Then do the opposite of what they did!

Do you think your friend would go to jail for you, in the the worst case "shit hits the fan" scenario? Unlikely doesn't mean impossible.

What prevents your friend from taking your money and flipping you the bird? Money does crazy things with people, especially a lot of money.

Bottom line: Infinite loyality is a pretty rare character trait I wouldn't rely on. Many couples say "Till death do us part." and the worldwide divoce rate is about 50% anyway.

They are right.....

Before SOPA, illegal niche = profitable X 2
After SOPA, illegal niche = profitable x -2
