Ignoring Buzzsumo and Buzzbundle, using Scrapebox instead

I've been trialling Buzzsumo and Buzzbundle for quite some time but am not getting the results I want. Buzzsumo is never quite on the ball for the topics I'm searching, in so much as I'm finding out which content is most popular socially, but that doesn't often equate to commenting opportunities.

Buzzbundle finds TONS of results on YouTube that are difficult to exploit for quality commenting and dropping links, or just finds nothing.

So I figure I can turn to my old friend Scrapebox. I have a rough plan but wanted to run it past my BHW friends. If you can spot anything here that won't work or could be streamlined please let me know. I figure I can't be the only person in this position.

As is traditional on BHW I won't reveal my niche, so for the purposes of this post let's assume I'm looking for blog comment opportunities for a client who sells cat hats.

The plan:
  1. Use the keyword planner to build a list of at least 50 keywords related to 'cat hats'
  2. Use Scrapebox to scrape all blog platforms using the 50 keywords
  3. Remove duplicates
  4. Use the authority addon to create a spreadsheet showing which URLs have the most authority
  5. Use the social checker addon to create a spreadsheet showing which URLs score best socially
  6. Manually visit the top scoring URLs in both spreadsheets and write high quality comments
The aim of the game here is to write genuine, useful comments, not spammy nonsense.

I'm running the initial scrape right now so if there's any interest in this thread I'll report back with my results.

So here's where I've got to so far.

The scrape only found 362 results, but that's okay, it's a very niche keyword. Instead of searching for 'cat hats' I decided to search for commenting opportunities that I'll actually find useful.

The road block I've met is that I don't know any way of quickly sorting the results to weed out the useless results. I seem to have this problem in ScrapeBox quite often. There are always a TON of results that are useless, things like the search engine homepages and major retailers that absolutely can't match the footprints I have used.

Any ideas?
 
I've gone through all the 362 results and only 22 of the results were valid targets. I sorted the spreadsheet in MozRank order, and wan't surprised to find that the 22 good results were very near the top of the sheet. The bottom two thirds of the site was price comparison sites and other useless chaff.

Most of the MozRank is around 4, which is okay. The DA and PA are all respectable, nothing thrilling, but respectable. To be honest I'm not too worried about the authority because any link I drop will likely be nofollow, but the aim of this game is real, human traffic.

I ran the 22 results through the social checker and there were a couple of clear winners. So I'll sort the sheet and start a the top and work my way down when commenting on the target sites.

I'm really pleased with the quality of these 22 results. So the system does work, but it took me about an hour start to finish and I could really do with it not taking so long!

Then next step will be to modify the footprint to try and stop so much junk being picked up. I can see some common patterns so will probably share the footprint here if I get it working well.
 
You mention things such as the DA and PA - can Scrapebox give you this information?

You mentioned Scrapebox in the OP, so I'm guessing SB can find out all of this information, without needing to use other tools?

Yes, there's a free addon that uses Moz to get authority info.

You can register for free accounts.
Hint: register a shit ton of them and check millions in a few hours.

For OP, you can add to your process Outbound Link checker. In case any blog has to many obl.
 
Use scrape box then url profiler with an semrush API to see how many keywords your list is potentially ranking for, sort like that
 
I managed to do a decent scrape and ran the authority tool. The trouble is, there's so many root domains. A bit of a noob SB question, but is there an option to remove URLs where it's only the root, like xyz.com

There is 'trim to root' but I'm looking for the opposite.

1 request every 10 seconds.

And for each request you can ask for upto 10 requests. So every 10 seconds you can get 10 urls checked, per moz free api.

And each account can check 10k or 25 k urls per month. Not sure on this info.

Just register a bunch with any email. I think that disposable emails still work there. Add proxies if you have as instructed by Scrapebox addon.

I do 2 accounts per proxies. Probably you can go higher.

As for connections, multiple the number of accounts with 10.
