[IG] How is this possible?

Hello everyone?

I'm having a quite unique problem with one of my instagram accounts. I've tested/tried all what I know to fix the issue. Nevertheless, nothing has helped to solve the problem so far.

The problem:
One of my accounts keeps following ''random'' (I guess they are random) people across the IG platform. Mostly, the account keeps following indian people (even though I'm from tier 1 country).

I've changed the password/email setted up a 2FA... you can name it.
I guess the account is hacked, but how can be the account hacked if I've changed everything?

The thing is, it is happening only on one account out of other 4 profiles that I have signed up on the same phone.

Another point, the problem keeps happening for some time (I believe for 1 - 2 years). I don't have any hard feelings for the account - therefore, I don't care if I'll have to delete it.

Any ideas, what keeps happening?

Did you purchase the account you're having issues with? I can't think of any other explanation.

If so, the original owner could be recovering the account back every time you change the info. Instagram keeps record of the original email/phone number used to sign for every account, and if they can prove ownership of that email/number they often win the recovery appeal since account selling is not permitted on the platform.

Nope, I've created the account by myself.

Yeah, I'm aware of that.

If I'd purchase the account, this would be my first ''idea'' what could be happening.
Unfortunately, as mentioned above, I've created the account by myself - still using the same phone & phone number.

The account has literally zero value (maximum of $10 - 50 - due the name/handle, that I've changed recently) + the acc is inactive.

If the phone would have been hacked, then the wo/man would have access to the other 4 accounts which have way higher value than this account has.
And as mentioned in the opening thread, this keeps happening for some time. Therefore, I guess the phone isn't the problem.

Login to the account via web app, go to settings and "Login Activity". Check who's connected to the account.
 
I think Instagram has something called Connected Apps - check to make sure you didn't let your account with some third party app access it such as a follow for follow app they used to be popular years ago

Other than that, I honestly have no clue. Check login activity too.
 
Check the email, there should be one from instagram warning you if someone logged in from far away.

Goto this page and revoke access for all the apps connected to your account.

Unfortunately, I've already done all of that and no suspicious activity was found.

The weird thing is that I have the 2FA & changed password (aprox. 1 month ago) and it still keeps happening.

Most likely logged in through cookies. They generally don’t expire until 1 year after they’ve been created.
 
i will tell you what's happening the account have been previously following private accounts and some of them are accepting the follow request later.
 
Russians are getting ready for the 2020 elections. You’re account is now a member of their disinformation army.

On another subject, are you using any third party software to grow your account, now or in the past? If not, is it still loaded in your computer? I would uninstall it.
 
I've seen similar problem with my friends account. I've checked connected apps, changed email, password and username and was still following liking random posts. Strange.

I am sure this is the case, i have a few clients who used f/uf previously and their account keeps following random people. Check the following link to find any pending requests and cancel them-

but for my clients even after deleting this list, some rare random follows still happen which makes me think that the above list doesnt show very old requests sent.
 
Could it be that you were following accounts that got hacked and are changed into those spam accs?
