I am still a beginner, but what I have learned so far:
? Spend less time trying to find a magic pill, choose a technique (Adsense, Affiliate, CPA, PPC) and give it some time. It is easy to give up when you see a noob friendly 100$ a day thread in here. Read it for motivation, but stick to your method.
If it doesen't work, find out where the problem lies. Do you get enough traffic? If not, why? Do you get traffic, but no conversions?
IM works, Adsense works, SEO works ? People make shitloads of money from it. Remember that!
? Be more specific in your research. Instead of researching how to make money, break down the problem and realize that you need: niche research, content generation, keyword research, social, video marketing, seo ? You name it. Read books on copy writing, and marketing in general. Read books on mangement, inspirational books like "Rich dad poor dad" etc.
Don't try to be best at everything. Are you a good writer? Outsource your SEO. Realize that time is money, and time spent on learning SEO could be spent on making great content, if you outsourced more. If you want to learn it, you can lern it of course, but you are not dependent on it the same way. You can learn the SEO at your own pace, and experiment a bit, while still getting traffic to your site and readers for your great content.
It takes money to make money. If you don't have money to invest, get a sidejob. You can get lots of decent gigs at Fiverr, or here.
The other way around, if your salescopy is shit, but you know your way around in SEO, outsource the writing. I am not a native speaker of English, but I know how to make websites. Therefore, I outsource some of the content generation, as it takes me too much time to proof read and structure my writing.
I learned this when working in an oil company. The oil company sell oil and manage the fields. They are not best at everything, they can't be? but they use hired guns, small specialized companies, to do cementing; drilling fluids; rig building; pipelines; seismic surveys ? They could probably do their own cementing, but put their time to better use on stuff they know, like marketing; sales and field development, and they know they will make profit. Do the same!
