Hi All,

So my journey is continuing. yada yada. Journies are very good. But no money has been made. A month or two ago I spent $50 (free coupon) on bing adverts and didn't get one sell. It was a $250 product so maybe that's where I went wrong. Anyway lately I've upped my efforts at really trying to make something happen online. I've investigated chris farrell membership and wealthy affiliate, and am a little tempted by both - but reading reviews on BHW, also see most people say , yeah they have some value (seems to be consensus) but on the whole - BHW has everything and more a learning IM could want.

2 days I ago I invested in a whiteboard for my bedroom / office... because I know this is an ideas game. Sure we need action, but so much revolves around ideas and planning, and getting your head around the right things etc. So it hurt my wallet a bit but it's on the wall. Nice. Now I need to use it. First task from what i've learnt so far is to find a good niche to work in.

Here's my brainstorm of how I plan to go about doing that... do the key points look ok?

Do you think i need to be considering anything else?

Seconldy I have some questions (they are the purple pen)

1) How do i assess the competition strength on first page of google (in terms of figuring out how hard it will be to get an organic first place for my long tail niche keyword i've selected)
2) is google keyword planner and trends, enough to use, to determine popularity of the niche i'm thinking of selecting?
3) should i focus on clickbank to start with?
4) Is gravity a decent metric to use to figure out if a product is good or not? if it is what gravity range should I be looking out for in selecting my product.

Thanks for the advice guys.

.profitable niche= the niche that has a lot of offers, all what i do is i select the niche that has more than 100+ products from cbengine.
.yes, google trends helps you to determine the popularity of the niche
.clickbank is easy to start with, the only problem they have is the refunds
.gravity means a lot of people are making sales from this product. high gravity= high competition on search engines and PPC

I'm in a very similar situation, but unlike you I want to create a product instead of becoming an affiliate. I think its better to have 10-15 people promoting your product than to build 15 websites and promote 15 different referral links.

Hmm I think you need to look into how you can get some good traffic, I would start off with pinterest and try finding products in the health and DIY niches.

1) I'm not a fan of free traffic. If you are going to start with click bank, I would suggest trying to invest in a form of paid traffic. Paid traffic is fast, scalable and consistent. As in, if something works on paid traffic, you can scale up pretty fast.

2) Yes, Those tools can help determine the popularity of a niche.

3) does not have to be Clickbank/affiliate marketing. You can start with CPA.

4) here is the rule of thumb: only go for high gravity if you love competition. Otherwise, I would stick with products in the gravity range 5-50. Also, high gravity means that the product is selling, but that does not always mean it's a good product. Some crappy product can still have high gravity, which means higher refund rates ;)
