Well Im already preparing my BST. "DOMINATE BLACK HAT SEARCH" (with added secret sauce)

Big idea OP. Its good to think big but the amount of active members here is grossly exaggerated and you would be lucky to get the money together to get a few servers together let alone a full time monitored data centre.

OP don't stop dreaming big. There is some truth in some of the posts, like don't invent the wheel. But you can always upgrade the wheel. Like creating a search enginge for Internet marketers. Or something like that. Don't let others get you down. It is not a bad idea at all.

This idea should be done by ur self with out the contribution of others , it just doesn't work like this .

Different TV stations in my country. Just Google something like advertise on + "channel name".

Anyways, to be on-topic:

Why do you want to start a search engine?
 
First of all, lots of people are ignorant. Google started with 1 small server. Then eventually expanded like any other company. I do think its a long shot. But let the man dream. Its not impossible, but it is highly unlikely that you can make it work. The problem is there is hundreds of small search engines to compete with, you must be better than all of those before you can even think about the big dogs.

With that being said. It would be nice to see it work out. And to be honest you can make it work with a few thousand dollars if you are smart enough about it. Google did not start with millions.

Dear OP.
people wont take it seriously till the time you have something tangible. Yours idea is really a good idea but you really have to make sure that you are offering something really unique. Though you wont be able to beat google or bing, even if you got really 0.1% percent of what google gets, believe me bing will be more than happy to acquire you.

About the discouraging comments, if Larry Page or other a**holes who gave birth to this G Bitch have posted a similar comment in 2001, they have got the treatment as you have been given
 
I don't agree with making a search engine to BE a search engine - you would need millions if not billions to even get your foot in the door.

and you would need the cleverest ppl in the world OR about 25 years to surpass google IMHO.

but I do think it would be a great idea to build a simulation search engine - ll a 1% model of google to closely replicate there system for testing of methods and so on. But it would still be an absolute mission.
 
I would rather see 1000 members invest $1,000 each which is $1 milllion. I think this sum is enough to start the wheels in the right direction and there will be less people to moan. I am pretty sure that under right management these thousand dollars could become much more in a year or 2.

This, of course, won't happen, but it would nice to be a part of a medium size company that may have a chance to become something bigger. Don't forget that Google started in a garage. I would "risk" $1,000 if a right person would lead the project.
 
OP must've gotten a Google penalty before writing this.
 
Even if it would become at some point true competition for Google, they would just buy it lol. Don't tell me you wouldn't take the money.
 
Competing with google or bing is not that easy.Because when google started at that time there was different ball game.
If some body really want to launch new search engine it will not be case that all the memnbers of blackhatworld will contribute and
if they will some extent it is scatterd idea who will be controlling the show.I gues this idea should be float by some body who already have some sort of business as owner of blackhatworld.

Thanks for that link. I was just listening to his interview and in my eyes all of his ideas are now implemented in Google (with rich snippets, Google places etc..) and yandex Islands.
If he didn't drop the project I think they would be acquired by Google. Too rich to quit my ass
 
Maybe just Jr. VIP and above could build our own search engine so it doesn't get saturated.
