You said that their are programmers on bhw that can create the product so product is not an isssue that's why I said marketing actually something unique you have to do

Would BHW members be willing to help make an in-depth business plan?

600k wont cut it from beginning to end, but it would be enough for seed capital.
Somethings could be done for free if programmers on bhw would contribute time.

Yes, not everyone will contribute $5 but thats the nature of fundraising.

I would use the new BHW search engine. Not much point in making something unless your selling or using it.

op I think you are frustated with big G's update right..
If you build the search engine and get a lot of visitors etc then you will have do to same things to stop spammers, that big G is doing so what will be difference
 
The reason why this is a dumb idea is because:

You can't compete with google
You have to compete with bing

What is the actual point? Anyone who is wanting to make money which most people are on BHW as they are Internet Marketers someway or another. Why would they waste time competing with the Search Engine that already makes them money?

My suggestion is you go start using https://duckduckgo.com/ or something.
 
USP hasnt been defined right now but obviously it would involve analyzing our competitors to find out their strengths and weaknesses are, and work from there.

Google
Strengths:
Well capitalized
Large reach.

Weakness:
Over confident
Dosent give a shit what customers think and forces its ideas and rules upon people.
Almost totally dependent on Adwords for income.

Bing:
Strengths:
Well capitalized
Large reach.

Weakness:
Results are often not so relevant
Adcenter dosent bring much traffic for certain niches.


So just from the above, you can see Google could disappear overnight if enough people dropped Adwords.

Op I appreciate your idea but your engine have something unique that not already have in the market.
And Trust me if I were big G and some other search engine that gain so much popularity but not have so much capital I just screw that. You know what big companies can do so in short if you got fame that it will gonna more difficult
 
You dont have to beat Google to make money.

You just need a USP and userbase, and grow from there.

Thats the whole point of a USP.

Life isnt easy, business is the same, its not easy, but dosent mean its impossible.

Maybe your just too comfortable with making money with Google that you cannot consider alternatives?

Seriously what I like your Idea is contributing not the search engine idea. If you can think some unique or something out of box that will be going to reward
 
Thing is for the average sheep sitting at home checking there Gmail and Googling homemade cookie recipes Google is fine
and not an issue. This is the same thing I see when people talk about competing the PayPal. Truth is the general consensus
is happy with their services and the branding does the rest.

For all the millions of dollars you are proposing core BHW members could game Google to the point Matt Cutts squeal's like
a little bitch. To much effort and money pointed to a wrong plan. Yeah man good ambition I like that but its better executed
for something else.
