Hi there!
I‘m JB. From Denmark. Has been living in China the past 5 years, and have a registered trading company here. I have already explained a bit more about myself and the idea in the introduction forum:
As you can read, the idea has a long way to go, and a lot of things to be figured out, so really hoping from input from you guys. In your eyes, what would be the perfect one-stop solution for china dropshipping/wholesale sourcing? In your journeys has there been times when you thought "If only there was a a way to solve this problem easily"? What was it.
From my experience working on countless projects these last years, on the buyers side most focuse is put on sales. And product optimisation seems complicated, and becomes low priority.. Focusing on your strengths, on marketing and sales, is of course natural. But if price is kept similar, I think we can all agree that superior products are easier to sell
Thank you for reading and for your time! And thanks to all members for the inspiration I have been filled with this past week, all coming from reading this forum!
BTW: I am not looking to be a middle man. I wan't to be part of creating genuine value.
Feel free to ask any questions you might have! I hope to get some input from experienced dropshippers/private label\ers, regarding their needs etc. But even if no responses I will return to the thread with a case study on how this might work in practice.
Take care.
JB
I‘m JB. From Denmark. Has been living in China the past 5 years, and have a registered trading company here. I have already explained a bit more about myself and the idea in the introduction forum:
If any platform is to be "born" it would be together with a group of members in hereCan't get into details, since it just my "introduction", thread. But, in truth, mostly because the "details" have not been hashed out yet.
My general idea is something like this:
I have experience in taking a completely new product from simple sketches, through prototyping, moulding, patenting and production. But my strength, and what I do most of the time, is what you might call "incremental innovation". It's basically taking and existing hot product, and finding ways of improving it, without increasing unit price too much. E.g. A manufacturer sells a product for USD 5. Mostly I work directly with the manager, and cultivate relationships, so they are flexible and find it fun to work with me. I then tell him "your product is great! But could you"... pay more attention to the stitching, slowing the pace.. Use better ziplocks, use certified organic materials, create a template for logo placements so it is always placed straight.. Stuff like that. The supplier might calculate this to cost an extra 1 dollars. Or maybe 2. But the perceived value for the end consumer might have gone up by 10! or 20! or 50 even.. Just using the tricks of the luxury brands.. The production method of cheap and expensive products is basically the same. The difference lies in use of materials and attention to detail.
For finishing, I use my own packing suppliers, who understand my quality requirements. I have cooperated with them for years, and have one in Zhejiang and one in Guangzhou(the two main production hubs). Using the same packing provider for all products, from all manufacturers, ensure uniform quality all-round. I often use packaging as you see with Apple products. Always shrink-wrapped, for a cheap but effective feeling of "premium-ness"
Hahahaha, a bit longer than I expected when I wrote "can't go into details". And havent even explained my idea yet.
Anyway, I was thinking about setting up a service where a small group of members in here could use it to make "incemental innovations" on products they are planning to sell. Or selling already.. Creating a limited catalogue with the products of highest sales, and the optimizing the shit out of them..Pooling purchases together, having small orders contiously in production.. Like a bulk-order/dropshipping hybrid.. renting a space close to production hubs, where products could be QC'ed, packed in custom branded packing, personalized(could put a piece of candy in the box, a message from the brand owner, coupons etc).. From here I am not sure.. Perhaps we would send via e-packes directly to the members customers. Or we could consollidate shipments and send express (3) days to fullfilment centers, and have products shipped from there...
