Hi everyone. So basically I was thinking about capitalizing on local facebook buy/sell groups (I'm aware this isn't anything new). My plan is to create a very simple buy/sell website that I can get these people to join up to. The website itself would be very very simplistic because most of these people on facebook buy/sell groups aren't really "techy" people. The way I was planning on making money from this was through either local businesses advertising, and having a "bump" feature where for a very cheap price, users could bump their post to the top. I was thinking about having the website as a never ending page kind off thing (Think "thisiswhyimbroke"). I have a few other ideas but that's basically the gist.
I know alot of you who are switched on will probably be about to type something along the lines of "Why would they want to leave facebook to use a website like that?." Honestly, I believe out of curiosity. I also think once a few start using it and spreading the word more will follow (for example, I once recall my mum first discovering gumtree and she went around preaching to everyone about it lol). People may also want to separate their buying and selling from facebook because they won't want people looking at that sort of stuff.
Alot of you may also be asking "Why won't they just use craiglist/gumtree etc.?" This is another valid point. Well, firstly no one in my country seems to be aware of craiglist as it isn't popular here at all. Gumtree on the other hand, well yes people do use the site but I think if I have my website set up in such a way that it focuses locally rather than the whole country It could work.
So basically I posted this to receive some constructive feedback opinions and advice, anything would be appreciated. P.S Please remember that I ain't as clever as all of you so please don't shout at me too much if this comes across as stupid lol.
