"I will get back to you"

I follow up after 7 days if they haven't got back to me, otherwise I leave them to their mental anguish.

What is your conversion rate on the follow-up? If I tell someone I will get back to them, and they contact me shortly after, I automatically have to deduct some points from them.

"I will get back to you"
Yeah I've paid my dues doing IRL sales, when they say this, you want to sink your teeth in like a pitbull and not let go.

"That's great to know - - before you go, do you mind telling me what specifically you like about my service offering, and what you're not completely sure about yet? I'm always trying to fine-tune the value I offer to my clients and I'd love your opinion".

Prospect: "um, no it's fine, I just need to think it over, it seems a bit expensive"
You: I understand, it's an important investment you'll be making, I agree - - I'm curious, what do you feel is the right amount of money to invest to get the results you're looking for?

Prospect:"well, I'm not really sure...I want to see who your competitors are"
You: oh, yes of course. It makes sense to explore your options before making a decision. Here's a comparison chart we've made, a side by side of services provided and cash outlay (send them a comparison pdf or physical copy if it's IRL)

Prospect:"oh, thank you...I'll have to talk this over with my business partner"
You: ah, yes of course - - perhaps I could help you with that. Here's a youtube link of our product/service presentation - - basically it explains everything we talked about today, and also has an FAQ section at the end - - would you like me to forward this to you as well as your business partner, I'm sure it'll make things more convenient"

Prospect"yeah, that's actually a good idea, send that video to me"
You: Of course, right away, just sent it. I'm curious, what kind of time frame do you have within which you want to make this decision now?

Prospect "well, if my partner gives me a go-ahead, then I'll probably make a decision in a week or so"
You: That's great, as a matter of fact, if you want to have a group call/meeting with me and your partner, to flesh out the details, I can definitely schedule that for next week.

etc etc etc

Brownie points if you spotted the languaging and presuppositions in that example :)

PS: noticed that some people in the comments have said, rightly or wrongly, that the prospect saying "let me get back to you" indicates a lack of interest.
That may or not be true. IMO, when you're doing sales, your job isn't to psychoanalyse the prospect, it is to get the close. If they're not interested, work on changing that - - by the time they get off the phone, they'd better be interested cause they're buying no matter what lol
It's much harder to do this over text or emails, you want to do it IRL or on phone, that really puts people on the backfoot, most people do NOT know how to say No IRL.

Thanks for this. Very useful idea

Most likely they may not be interested and don't know how to say no. Or it could be that they are busy and in the middle of something. I would wait at least a week and follow up.

I wait a week or so and drop by to say hi
50/50 it will result in a sale
When I know I'm dead in the water is when I give them my prices and they just say "oh" or don't reply at all haha

Wait for 2 to 3 days and send a follow up email.
This is good. Follow up 2-3 times, not just once.

And never burn any bridges, this leaves the possibility to always get them back later.
