I Was Asked to Start Writing Press Releases After Fiverr Order.

I posted a gig on Fiverr offering to take someone's product, write a 250 word or more article about it, post it on my 4 year old blog, and place a link back to their product in the article body. I received 2 orders so far and completed them. One of my customers was impressed enough with her article to ask me to start writing press releases for her. The only problem is, I have no clue how to write a press release.

Articles are easy for me, but I realize how much more involved a press release can be. Does anyone here know of a source I can refer to, to learn the press release process? I googled it and found some interesting info, but nothing that I would consider concrete like a professional ebook written on the subject.

First, congratulations on getting the clients. Second, I remember a press release kit being share here in BHW. I don't remember the link but I'm sure you'll be able to find it in the downloads section. Maybe someone else will post the link.

Also since you are good at writing articles, you should be able to learn how to write press releases very easily. A tip would be to go to press release sites and get some ideas on how others are submitting theirs.. Copy and past the ones you like into a Word or text file and use them as templates or examples.

I am already doing something similar to your suggestion and am learning a great deal about press releases. They are a lot more in depth than just a plain ole article. I think it will be fun, but I do not see myself creating these for $5.

I don't blame you, I wouldn't do it for $5 either. I thought this person was going to hire you outside of fiverr then you would be able to set your own price.

I haven't used it before so I don't know what their TOS is. If it won't get your account banned, give it a shot.

It's not clear as to how she wants to conduct this business yet. I have a message sent to her now in regards to the next step she wants to take and compensation. I am going to negotiate outside of Fiverr because a good press release can be much more lucrative to her business then an online article posted on a blog and I think calls for more than a five dolla bill!

Yep, that's me. I just started fiverr a few days ago and have gotten 2 orders so far. Hopefully more will come in.
