I suck at getting backlinks

I know its already been said but, why aren't you just buying guest posts / crowd links etc? You dont have to go down the PBN road to start building a paid link profile (although it's definitely part of the puzzle)

Manually attempting to get backlinks is quite frankly, a massive waste of resources and not particularly scalable.

Personally I also think blogging in order to gain backlinks is a waste of resources also, but I guess that depends what your staffs time is worth to you.

Because they would rather spend money on commercials and influencers. I keep mentioning that backlinks are what is going to propel us to a higher level, but it mostly falls on deaf ears.

My boss is cool as a fan and understands, but the senior management boss is the one who approves purchases, and getting them on my side is proving to be fairly difficult.

I have been doing backlinks by reaching out to people, but it is very slow and my time can be better used somewhere else.

Is there a good way for me to pitch backlinks as a source of ROI? How would you guys go about it?
 
The cost of your placement is what keeps you afloat. The more placements, the better!

Branded properties? Tier 1 assets? IFTTT Network?

I would pull competitors in the industry through a tool like semrush. Show them the traffic and how it correlates to referring domains as they increase.

Obviously I just pulled one of the site, and you can do this a lot better with comp your bosses may be interested in.

Another thing, when building links, understand how Google is analyzing the nodes now. You need to have multiple tiers and interlinking.

PR stacking works wonders for that by linking PRs to your 1st tier entities.

Just look at the site I analyzed above. Heres their network of links and how everything intertwines. This is what most who are building links is missing.

You need a network of links nowadays. Link building is getting more and more complex as algorithms become better and Googles crawl budget expands.

Not all the free links I can. I regularly add new sources to outreach too, and one of the marketing girls does a great job of reaching out and making the handshake. Even still, backlink profile has basically flatlined. we consistently have the same amount of backlinks for close to a year now.

Not sure what the branded properties, tier 1 assets, or IFTTT Networks are. I will start looking into those right now.

And yeah I have showed them competitor backlink profiles, but maybe keeping track of their traffic and correlating it would be a good idea.

I'd love to get us on a PBN at this point. But if we get a penalty I'll probably lose my job.

Yeah man set up your branded 1st tier properties. THeres a lot of info on that on YT. And even start with your IFTTT network. Basically IFTTT just syndicates your blog from your main website via RSS to your 1st tier branded properties. When you post a blog it automatically feeds out to these networks and creates a snippet to your main blog with a link to it. You can then tier your IFTTT network by taking the rss feed from your first tier branded properties and sync those out to personas/fake profiles. This way it looks like your 1st tier branded properties have fans. It also creates nodes of interlinking thats becoming more important.

Be weary of the internal links you include on your blog post. I wouldn't do any internal linking until the IFTTT posts publish on your properties. I usually wait a day and come back and do internal linking on new posts on my site.

Its probably a little confusing to wrap your head around, but just start doing it and it will all make sense.

I got SEMRush backlinks suggestion, then filtered it to what is relevant to my niche. Then took 240 entries and gave to a Fiverr Freelancer (5$. But with Fiverr taxes about US$ 90 amiright?) to either:

a. contact them with a message asking to guest post or
b. get me their contact address to send myself through woodpecker.

The message is like:

Hello this is [your name]

I found your website and really enjoy what you are writing about.

As it turns out I'm also a [niche expert] and write about [this], and [that], and, of course [that]. I'd be happy to write guest post on a topic of your choice if that's interesting to you. I heard this is good for exposure and it would really help me.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

So far, I got 1 guest post and 1 niche edit link, both free of charge. I'm still sending through woodpecker the remainder of my list.

I also use SEMrush and have done similar. It more or less ends up being either sending them a product for review, or them saying "we will put an ad for you for $$$."

Product reviews always get approved but have yet to get approval for $$$ links.
 
What's the difference between PBN and Web 2.0?

I looked up Nespresso.com with semrush and found backlinks filled with this scoring 80+ in Authority score

I can't seem to figure out what a tier 1 property is. Is that just links from a high DA to the money site?

And how do you get the fake personas/profiles for the RSS to feed to?
 
And a lot of what I am coming up with is short term. But getting links to categories is a bitch through organic means.

We have a blog, but I want juice to other things. I mean I guess internal links pass some of it, but there are a lot of places I would rather have them and it seems like black hat type stuff is the only way to go about it.

Think about the term. Tier 1 Branded assets.

Basically Web 2's and social profiles for the BRAND. Real brands have 1st tier branded properties. Even social bookmarking profiles. Reddit. Etc etc.

And for the fake personas, you create them just like you would for the brand. Basically you;re creating all of the same entites you created for the brand but under a persona. A person with a name.

I see. So getting quality links, and then linking to those links from other links haha.

To me that seems like you are boosting your links inadvertently by boosting the links linking to you? Is that a correct statement?

Im not sure I would consider this "quality links". I consider quality links to be guest posts on sites with domain relevance to the page you're linking to.

This is just branded properties, and personas that feed their properties via RSS.

Its just RSS syndication. The links are source links to where the RSS is leading.

Not to be considered low quality by any means but they're just a free way to get some SE boosts. A days worth of work maybe.

So using RSS to push links to other sources, and then using RSS links from those sources another step down?
 
The short answer is yes, but they shouldn't be your only strategy. While backlinks are not the only ranking factor, they're still very important. The main difference is in how you should be going about getting sites to link through to your content.

I have one strategy in place but it is slow going but consistent. I don't know that I will even do the IFTTT network yet, but it is on my radar.
 
@coolsheet

How many accounts would you consider a good amount? How involved is keeping up with them?
