I started a mass movement at my school. I am a high school student in India, and I started a movement against the corporal punishment and rude and arrogant behavior of the school management. It is a violation of human rights to beat up someone and I have started my protest against this.

Corporal punishment in Indian schools is widespread, there are laws which make this act illegal but this still continues on...

So I have printed and distributed flyers in my school giving the school management 15 days during which the conditions will be observed and if not found right, we will start mass class walkouts and also put up banners near the school area after schoolhours.

I have around 15 people who are ready to help me and some 30 students who are willing to walkout.

I need more ideas from you guys to make it successful....

What school are you in? There's nothing wrong in punishment as long as it doesn't go overboard.
 
15 to 30 kids is never going to be enough! Management can deal with 15 to 30 kids....

You need at least 1/2 to 3/4 of the school... then the kids that stay in school will feel stupid and not you guys who leave.

There is nothing wrong? seriously? What should be defined as overboard?
I see some kids under fear of punishment most of the time, they are unable to fully express themselves due to it, you still think it is right?? It sucks even more when I see small folks, 10-11 y olds with frightened face because they just did something wrong. The punishment include slapping in front of the whole class, calling them stupid and shouting at the top of their voices.

Another great thing I did:
I filed a application to the Govt. asking for the financial audits of the school. The govt. is bound to reply me with the documents due to Right to Information act. Now this school is stealing taxes and I can prove it.

I was paying my admission fee is check and they refused it and wanted only cash.... haha... they messed with the wrong guy.

Get a mic and 1 or several huge big speakers.

Before the start of school, shout out and bring awareness to other students.
Speak of your cause and let others know what you're doing - then ask them to join you.
This will bring in more people.

Also, have that 30 students pretend to be a crowd... this way, others will feel safe and will want to standby to listen.
This, in return, will bring in more crowd.
This is just crowd psychology.
Once you have a big crowd, the media will start coming in.
When the media spreads this, other crowds will form in other sschools and start protesting.
Then finally your government will take this more seriously.

There should be a bit of fear at this age. even humiliation and scolding are necessary at some extent. you just can't demand taking it out totally. If its your mistake you should learn to correct it rather than going against the person who wants to make it right.
We just don't want to be Dogs and Bitches after certain age.
If you want to start a movement then start for Rapes and Molestation, the scholl will for sure respect you for this.
Do things for other and not for ourself.
All these things are important in school, you just can't be a brat and enjoy everything the way you want.

We would love to do this, but when this matter goes public people will think that we are wrong and not the teachers. I don't care about the teachers but I want to change not only this school but other schools too, this may seem far fetched but this is what I want to do so I need to prove to the public that we are right...
 
Find out what the laws are and hire an attorney. He will be able to advise you if it is a criminal or civil matter.

Scolding is alright, sometimes they teachers have a fucked up day and take out their frustration on us... is that right? Sorry but I fully disagree with you.

Making things right is one thing and trying to control someone's life is other. I cannot just sit and see all this happen.

You want to say physical punishment in necessary for civilized individuals? Not at all brother, not at alll/....

It comes under violation of Human Rights and Fundamental Rights and Child Rights.... also it violated the Right to Education Bill, 2009... don't know if its Civil or Criminal, will have to find a lawyer ...

This is a great idea, my school organizes talks every tuesday in which students can participate. If i do it there I would already have 500+ strong crowd :)

If thats the case then get your parent to school and let them have a talk. i guess they can solve it better.

and rather then using so much of brains here and making movements and all, use this much of brains in some creativity and learning something else. that would help you or ..
you'll adapt a complaining nature rest of your life.
There are lots of things to take care about rather than these issues.

Now we are over run with young thugs with no manners,
discipline or respect.

Complaining is what students around me do.... I am leading them, towards a something better.....

lack of physical abuse is not the problem here, its the lack of parenting. There are plenty of good kids that come from abuse-less homes with good parents. If a kid has shitty parents, he could be beaten to a pulp and still be a punk bitch. Beating kids leave scars (emotional, physical, an psychological) that will be the root of many many problems later down the line.
 
Which town are you in? and whcih school?? I know exactly what you are talking about and I know it is 100% wrong. The teachers do go overboard. NOt to mention the pressure those kids already undergo. Corporal punishment has lead to a lot of suicides and I think you are doing a good job by making the students aware of it.
 
Getting a few slaps now and then is good for disciplining a child.
We cant let a few bad apple spoil the whole crowd
