I need to learn local SEO: Where do I begin?

I'll have to do local SEO (Google Business Profile) for a company with close to a hundred locations and I don't know local SEO. I'll have to start studying: where do I begin?
Any advice or tip would also be appreciated.

BONUS TRACK: Do I charge per location?

A great business for someone without knowledge about what they are selling to their customers or employers.

Every so often, I discover that SEO is head-to-head with office cleaning services. Just anyone feels can successfully do it with a little instruction manual.

Good advice. But before hiring some to perform a task, I like to have an understanding of what they are doing.

Start from here. It's free and is very thorough (they are obviously willing to cross-sell their services through the learning)

But as I said from my POV, this is about understanding + experience. Your experience is what will really make the difference.
Following just the basics through understanding will be plain "meh" (although for certain low competence queries, doing just 0+1 is better than plain 0, so they may work out).

that's great advice. I absolutely prefer to outsource the task, because it's no my expertise and because I don't want it to be. I will check the ebook to learn the basics. Thanks!
 
So, you solicited for and got a client for SEO or local SEO without knowing SEO ? In that case, I ask >>> What is your business model ? Have you thought of outsourcing ? No ? You've planned nothing ? In that case if you have taken any money from that client, then just inform the client that you are unable to do the project and decently refund that client all his money.

What are you talking about? What I don't do is local SEO, I've been doing SEO and ORM for over 15 years.

Alright. So in these 15 years of doing SEO, you did not realize that local SEO is gaining importance and made no attempt to learn local SEO ? Now you have a client for local SEO and you are confused as to what to do ? In these 15 years of doing SEO, you have not networked even with a single person who does local SEO ? In today's cut throat business competition, it is no longer bigger eats smaller, it is now faster eats slower. So, by the time you decide as to what to do with that local SEO client, the client may move on to some other (local) SEO provider. But, it does not matter, there are lots of fish in the sea, as SEO is now quite in demand. So, let us just relax. I do wish you best of luck.

BHW is a forum where members may provide you with their respective replies pertaining to what you ask and do not expect all such replies everytime to be in line with what you expect. And when it is not in line with the sweet words that you expect, learn and grow as to not getting abusive.
Nothing from me in this your thread, is out of place, nothing. It is just that I gave you my perspective, which again totally pertains to your main posted question in this thread.
BHW is a forum and not just a mere helpdesk.
 
There are a number of ways you can learn local SEO. You can start by reading articles and blog posts on the subject, watching video tutorials, or taking an online course. You can also join a local SEO group or community to get advice and tips from other businesses and SEO experts.
