So I am not sure if this can be done, but I thought I would ask. How would a person go about removing a misinformation, manipulative article showing on the first page of google? Can you remove them if they have been proven to be untrue? If they can't be removed, how do they get pushed off the first page?

NO, this is not competition sabotage. It is simply a forum discussion with a terrible title, and through the discussion, the original poster was proven wrong by many people. I would think there is a blackhat way to do this depending on the site, but a white/gray hat way would be awesome.

The person who can remove/push down this listing on google will be rewarded handsomely. Crowdfunded, meaning lots of money, whatever is raised for it. Could be 1000, 5000 dollars, depending on the technicalities of the process also. Any information on this would be great! Or just point me to a place where I can find it.

Reputation management is exactly what you're describing. For something to be removed, it's not always about what is true, but what site it's on and what else has been said. Send me the link and I'm happy to let you know if we would have a chance to have it removed. Typically removal starts around $3000 and goes up depending on what needs to be done.

For suppression (pushing the negative off the first page), that's what we usually do when a negative cannot be removed. You mentioned $1000 and $5000. For suppression, you really want to focus on results. Anyone who says they can get results for $1000 is almost certainly lying to you. $5000 is a more reasonable budget, but would really depend on the negative, where it's ranking and what your expectations are.

As you talk to people about suppression, focus on whether or not they can get results. Nothing else really matters if they can't get results. You don't care about the size of their company, how beautiful their dashboard and reports are, or other sales-focused items, you care about results.
