I need help understanding if my site's downtime could be because of this. I had a version of the site on amazonaws.com, indexing and leaving it active, so I uploaded my site to the main domain that was also indexed. What I thought about doing was creating a rel=canonical tag to inform Google that the version on amazonaws.com was not duplicated, so all the pages have rel=canonical on AWS, and the home page on AWS also gave me a 301. Anyway, could this have messed me up? Can anyone explain to me better if this theory is valid for the drop in traffic?

well, i think your site's downtime and drop in traffic could be related to how you've implemented the rel=canonical tags and 301 redirects. If the canonical tags on the AWS version are not properly pointing to your main domain, it might confuse search engines about which version to index, potentially leading to indexing issues and reduced visibility. Additionally, if the 301 redirect is not set up correctly, it could further complicate how Google perceives your site structure, impacting traffic negatively,
