as per title of thread. got a expired domain relevant to my niche and it's pr 3. what should i do with it? i'm new to this and very teachable and don't mind if you have very tough teaching style.

no need to explain if you don't have time. just point me towards some good materials. thanks bhw.

Do you want to build new site on it or use it on linking purposes for your old sites?

1) Private whois
2) Setup wordpress on a host
3) build it out will relevant content
4) link it out to your site. homepage and in context link.
5) throw some related back links at it.

As for clarification on any step you want.

Recreate the old pages of the domain, otherwise every deep link to your site will be a 404 error and you'll lose your PR on the next update.

Go to the Internet Archive Wayback Machine (Google it, I can't post links yet). Recreate every page the domain used to have with your own relevant content.

Your site will now keep the PR3 rank and you can do whatever you want with it. Advertise your other money sites, monetize the new site, sell it on Flippa, etc.

This is the correct answer. Or you could just push it to my hosting account and I'll take care of it for you.

Sell it and get cash.

The expired domain is related to your niche? You can use it for developing your site, but don't forget the PR3 is not forever.... maybe it can be dropped to PR2 or PR1 or PR0.

wow, obviously this is quite a popular topic here. thanks for the replies.

is it necessary to build back the old posts exactly? what if i add new content? would it lose pr? and 301? would that lose pr too?

lol yeah right

have you checked if site was abused in the past?
i've checked the backlink profile, looks good. no IMer style links. i think the pr didn't come from the links. just the domain age. not a lot of links to speak of.

how much can i sell it for? yeah it's related to my niche that's why i bought it. but i'm considering all options now.

for now i think the easiest thing to do is to 301 it to my money site. what are the pros and cons of that?

No, you don't have to copy the old posts, just put something there that's relevant to what the old content used to be.

You can 301 the old pages, and that will pass some of the link juice on to your new pages, but recreating them will let you keep 100%.

thx for the info. just curious, though.. how much can a pr3 domain sell for? assuming the pr checks out, of course..

another dumb question from me: what if i used the pr3 domain to rank for a kw, and only then i 301 it. what would be the pros n cons for that?

thx for the help guys

rebuild the site if it's worth effort.

if your old site is ranking good then just 301 it.

If the website's back link profile is neat and tidy, 301 it to your money site to get the flow of link juice. If the back link profile is not up to the mark then upload more number of quality articles with a link back to your money site. It'd help you in either way.

301 it to your site and gradually backlinks and pr will flow to your site, good luck
