I'll Give You Dessert First...

So let's get straight to the point of this and get into the good stuff. I have been a member for a long time and read a lot of IM material on this website, but my title is not click bait, nor any lie. I have damn near zero knowledge on these types of things. I can tell you what a lot of IM terms mean (what they MEAN, not necessarily how to use them or execute them) I know VERY basic on-page SEO...

By very basic I mean -

  • I know what keyword density should be used for what
  • I know that I should throw my keywords in my articles somewhere
  • And I'm just throwing this bullet point in because I just realized I made a bullet list for only 2 things...

I know off-page SEO means building backlinks and networking, and I have built a few tiny sites using blogger and GoDaddy's Drag and Drop website builder....yea, I used a Drag and Drop website builder... WHAT SON?!

...And that is about as far as my knowledge goes.

So what the hell am I doing then?? Well, if you guessed outsourcing, that is a very good guess, but you're wrong. I am actually about to do the unthinkable, the so called "impossible" by many of you...I'm about to work hard and learn. After years of being on this forum and reading and bouncing from idea to idea without ever really focusing in on one, I've learned that there is only one thing better than a great idea, and that is ACTING ON THE IDEA! So that is what I am about to do. I'm not even going to read another method on this forum. I have, in my mind, the projects I am going to work on, and that is what I am going to do. I'm not even going to give my brain the chance to get distracted from them and try something else. I get distracted easy, as you might imagine...

"The more you learn, the more you earn." - Warren Buffet (yes I heard that on Tai's youtube ad. But warren really said it okay? Geez.)

Speaking Of Those Projects...

So what exactly am I going to do to make a million you ask? That is a great question...

The Game Plan

Let's face it, I'm not going to make a million with a few Adsense Micro Niche sites. Atleast without buying or building 10,000 of them (and that is if they are doing really well), and to be honest I would like to hit my goal before I'm farting dust. So the other routes that I see?

  • Authority Sites. I have an idea for one already. It is something I thoroughly enjoy working on and writing about, so it wouldn't seem so much like work. I believe having passion and knowledge for the niche is important in building such a site, for the simple fact that people pick up on it. I dont know about you guys, but I can very much tell when I am reading something and someone is not into it. That makes ME not into it. Which makes me leave the site. Leaving the site from dissatisfaction = probably never coming back. This, for now, will be what majority of my time goes into.
  • Online Companies/Business - This is going to be my brain child and what a lot of my money from my authority site is going to go into. As I said, I have almost no knowledge on a lot of this stuff, so this will take some time, research, and a lot of sleepless nights. It is going to be worth it though. My idea for this is, in my mind, genius (everyone thinks that about their own idea huh?). Nothing like it exists, its service is in high demand, and I have been getting great feedback on people I have been asking about it. Yes, the people I have asked are very much involved with the industry that I would be starting my company in, and no, they are not my friends or family that would be scared to hurt my feelings and tell me the idea is as worthless as Obama.
  • Small Niche Sites No, there will not be 10,000 of them. In order to not spread myself out to thin, I will not have more than a couple of these. I have already bought one from a service here on BHW actually, and am waiting to receive it. My main reasoning for these will be to not only (hopefully) have a little extra money coming in to help my authority site, but also to test things on a lower risk, smaller scale before trying them on my authority site, and eventually my company. I don't know how to do most of these things, so these will basically be my lower risk guinea pigs to try things on first.

Now the Veggies...A Little Background On Me

I'm just a southern boy born and raised in the USA. I just recently finished my 3rd year of college and I'm taking this semester off to work and get some money up. This will be the first time I have had serious money to invest in any projects, so I'm going in for the kill while I can and while I don't have many bills. This college degree is now my Plan B. I have learned after working through school and working now, that being an employee is not for me. It's just not. Working the same job forever is not for me. I literally feel trapped, like I'm in a cage. I DO NOT mind hard work, sometimes I even prefer it because I like to know that I earned what I have, and I do not mind doing what needs to be done. I have worked on multiple farms and have worked in an oil field, and that is not easy work. So that is not why I dont like a regular job. I am just to much of a freebird. I need to see things and be different places and experience different people.

With that being said, opportunity is at its highest point ever right now and it only requires action. I have my window of time here to do something, and that is exactly what I am going to do. I have a good bit saved now, so I will use a percentage of that to initially fund my ventures. Most people are motivated by Ferrari's and Lambo's, but I am motivated by experiences. I want to be making enough money online to not have to work a day job through my last year of school, and then when I graduate, to travel the world and work online, while running a traveling vlog that does daily GoPro vids of me and a couple of buddies travels and experiences. Then if I have enough for the Ferrari after that, I guess it wouldn't hurt...but I'll have a Ducati first.

I am more of a quality over quantity type guy, and this will be no exception. If you are looking for a journey where you watch the OP make $100/day with spam for 2 weeks, then I am going to disappoint. This is going to be a long term, start from absolutely zero, hard work and effort, type journey. I'm not trying to churn and burn, bake a rake, date a snake, fake and bait, or any other crazy ass name yall have for your short term projects. I'm trying to build something of quality that is going to last and that is going to make money for a long time to come. I am trying to innovate and not only bring value to people, but possibly have an impact on them and either directly, or indirectly, change lives. I have the ideas and drive to do it, and it will be done. If that's the kind of thing you are interested in, then this journey is for you.

I work 48 hours a week at my 9-5 right now (by 9-5, I mean 5-5), Monday through Thursday. So I cannot promise that I will be updating this every minute of every day. But I WILL be updating at least a few times a week with progress and updates. My main reason for starting this journey from absolutely zero is so that everyone can see and learn with me, how it is to learn from almost no experience, and to make it to the point to where you are achieving dreams. I hate when people start journey's when they are actually already halfway through it. How can people learn with you if you have already finished half of the journey that we didnt get to be a part of? I also hope to be able to learn from more experienced members (so about 90 percent of you), and to be able keep track of my own progress and to have even more reason to do this. Everything I learn, you will also learn. Everything to do with my projects you will know about.

So, if you're with me for the long run, lets get started...

Plan for Tonight...
- Start up Facebook Page for Authority site and register domain
- Some keyword research for Authority Site - Going for keywords with 1,500/mo+ exact matches
- Find the right hosting company for my project and register it
- Find a theme

Good luck.

If all else fails, you would make a great writer.

Congrats on finally taking action.

Thanks for that! Definitely a possible back up plan for traveling; freelance writing.

UPDATE -
About to hit the hay for the night to have a productive day tomorrow...I am off until wednesday (shoutout to the holidays). So, tomorrow I will do what I start all of my days off doing. Going to the gym, and then doing some reading. Btw, anyone who is serious into entrepreneurship, I highly suggest reading "Zero To One". Full of knowledge and tips on building a startup and having the mindset to do it....ANYWAY, HERE IS WHAT i HAVE DONE SO FAR -

- I have built my Facebook page for my authority site and already have 22 likes, just from friends and family that I invited to like the page.

- I have registered my domain, which is pretty catchy if I do say so myself. I used GoDaddy for this.

- I have already found 3 good keywords just from a few minutes of research. One has 2200 searches per month, One has 1800 per month, and the other has 4400 searches per month! Here is the best part. Top 5 results for each and every one of these keywords, which is obviously my competition, the highest backlink number I saw was 300 and something backlinks when analyzing them. I know it depends on the quality of backlinks, do follows, etc, but I dont see these keywords being to hard to dominate. For the noobs, here is what I use for my keyword research so far:
- I use Google Keyword Planner to see monthly searches on keywords and get more ideas.
- I use AHrefs to analyze the competition on google
- I manually go through competition's site to check the quality of content, length of content, etc.

That's it! If anyone else has any tools that are great for keyword research, competition analysis, etc. Please share! I am always looking for more ways to be efficient, and I am sure everyone else is too!

Questions -

What exactly are "no-follow" and "do-follow" links? How do they affect SEO and do I want to have both for my site?

What do you some of you do in order to promote your FB pages? Will just boosting posts and boosting the page itself be effective to a large degree? If so, what kind of budget do you set for yourself on that?

What type of security precautions do you take to make sure your site stays secure?

Any answers are much appreciated by me and I am sure everyone else as well. Thanks in advance!

Tomorrow To Do -

-Find a good hosting company and install my site on it as I did not get that done tonight! Still need to do some research on this actually. The options are pretty overwhelming if you are newer to this.
- Find the theme as I did not get around to this either. I was on a roll with keywords so kept doing them. Lol I need to work on time management and dividing up my tasks a little more.
- Install the theme on my site
- Look into some plugins. I will also have to do some research here as I have never used plugins!
- Some more keyword research. I imagine this will never end since it is an authority site.
- Work on and look into promoting my FB page, schedule post for the day, and set up a budget for this.

Thanks for reading guys and we will talk to you all tomorrow!

I like your passion and honesty, especially that you're honest with yourself to begin with.

Will be following this journey and I wish you the best of luck!

What exactly are "no-follow" and "do-follow" links? How do they affect SEO and do I want to have both for my site?

I may Not be "The Best" Guy to make you understand exactly what they mean but i will try in Short.

If a Webpage has a Do-follow link on it, then Both Humans and Google Bots will be able to follow the link. This Link will Pass Link Juice of the Webpage to the target webpage.

If a Webpage has a No-Follow Link on it, Then only Humans can follow the link and Google Bots will Stop there and won't Crawl the Linked webpage.

You don't necessarily have to have both do-follow and no-follow links if you are building just few links. But having Mixture of both types of links just looks natural in the Eyes of Google.
