I hate it when people speak without having an idea about the economic situation of a certain country...
The minimum wage in Sri Lanka is 43 EUR, that is ~$62. Now you do the math, this guy is paying him almost double than that, what the hell is wrong with that? Have you considered that maybe that guy receiving $5/day feels lucky?

In the last year, I took a trip to Sudan for a relief project down there, and anyone there making $5 per day would be RICH compared to most of them. To put it in more Western terms, that'd be the guy driving the BMW. Not obscenely wealthy, but moreso than just about everyone else.
This guy is getting paid double the minimum wage. Again, for the pin-headed Americans who can't wrap their minds around this concept, that'd be about $14.50 an hour according the the current US-sanctioned minimum wage. That's pretty good money, I'd say.
How do people not understand relativity? If there was a country where the minimum wage was $20 per hour, and then came to an American and offered to pay him $14 per hour, are they exploiting the American? If it's for a job like the one mentioned, then no. A robotic, repetitive job for more than minimum wage is rare, even in the US.
OP, I'm willing to bet that gentleman is thankful that you're paying him almost double the minimum wage in his country, and you should be glad to have helped him feed his family and afford to live more easily than others in the country.

i will be interested in doing gigs for you, but i will like it to be more mentally challenging. At first, i though you were paying $5 per hour for 8 hours periods which would have been $40 per day. After reading the forum, it dawned on me that you were paying only $5.00 per 8 hours day. I will try and help you out on the condition that you are a good coach.

$5 for 8 hrs works yes is bad in uk or usa. but i live in thailand and they work in factories or farm workers for 100b which is $3 a day , for u to offer them a new lease of life for $5 per day is like , you just offered a guy an 80% rise, in better conditions and the chance to learn new skills.
my point is, get off the OPs back, his worker is working from home in his own country, not in a jail, so he can walk out of that job when he feels like it.
how many people here would like an 80% raise in there jobs. yes i agree it is a low amount , but to the worker he is not being aboused, he actaully being paid to learn a new skill.
