I Had A Terrible Day

Ok some fast advice to act. Will this person be a repeat customer that will bring in the same amount of money in the next 7 months that values the price of the watch? I assume it's a Rolex Oyster Perpetual, value on those ones go for 1-5k,, if the answer is no, have a friend or family member call on your behalf pleading your case, make it clear that your having a emotional break down and will need help as you are emotional distressed. The person that bought the costume jewelery - not sure if thats for him/her or for re-sale but if they are a reasonable person I think your going to be ok. Act now, Act fast.

Can't you do it for me? Well, everything except for the reaching for my ovaries part. That might be painful.
 
To summarize everybody's advice: Get your watch back ASAP.

Simply explain the situation to the buyer and maybe give him a less expensive thing to sort of soften things out. Good luck! :)

He has been buying boxes of jewelry for over a year. In 7 months, he may or may not buy more than what the watch is worth. It depends what I get in. I buy in bulk, go through it, and make him up boxes. I know everything he likes. I make other people up boxes too, but he is my favorite client and always gets first choice.

Antique Victorian coral necklace. lol He loves coral and Victorian. I have the necklace here by the way. lol It did not make it in the box.
 
Since the customer already buys costume jewelry, why don't you buy a watch that looks similar to the Rolex. Contact him and tell him that you made a mistake and gave him the real Rolex instead of the look alike. You can also just give him a call back and ask for your watch back.

Or maybe you'll luck up and the customer will sell the watch and come back and buy $3,000 worth of your jewelry. Good luck!

About $85 retail. Costume chain, small carved rose in genuine coral pendant. Some coral Victorian necklaces cost more than that watch. But this was plain and not in fine gold.

Talk to him (or her).
Maybe not so easy to do, as he'll be so disappointed... but if he really know the value of that watch, I wonder how didn't he know it's a mistake. Of course, if your box is less than $10.000 in value. :)
 
Well, the saga is over. I called him and explained what happened. He sounded sad, but he was fine with giving it back. I got it back and gave him the Victorian necklace, and also another surprise. I gave him the $200 back for the box of jewelry. He perked right up after that. Funny thing about the watch-I don't deal with watches. This came in a 50lb box of estate jewelry and they said it was fake. I couldn't even remember who ran that estate sale. It was professionally run by an antique dealer. But not all antique dealers know jewelry inside and out. I said whatever, no worries, I don't deal with watches anyway. After I had researched the watch and saw the price, I took it to a new dealer friend who deals with watches. I wanted him to look at it just for the heck of it to make sure it was fake. He opened it up and it wasn't a fake. So the watch really didn't cost me anything special because it was just in with everything else. Thank you everyone for helpful input. It really is nice to vent every once in a while when things get turned upside down in life.

LOL!!! I really hate watches. I just want to bag them all up and throw them out the window. They cause me nothing but grief.
 
That's a good customer you have there, and I sure wish my vendors would throw in nice little suprizes now and then.
