So, you got a warning... hardly a big deal as 1 warning is nothing more than a "Yo, {Dude|Dudette} that is not allowed here on BHW and here is why" and not a, "You suck because you broke a rule".

Everyone makes mistakes (yeah that is an absolute and I despise absolutes but this one is legit).

Everyone.

Or, maybe you didn't make a mistake and the staff member read your post wrong.

Again, everyone makes mistakes (that includes staff).

So how do you handle that if a staff member makes a mistake in your opinion?

Respond to the PM and explain things. If what you did was not a violation of the ToS and merely a mistake on the part of the staff member who may have misconstrued your post/thread/PM we are open to listening to your thoughts.

Even if we are not wrong we are almost always willing to listen and offer some thoughts as to how you can go about things differently to stay inside the sidelines and not go out of bounds.

Case in point:

I issued a warning to someone today who is typically not a violator (we see history as staff) and he responded that he did not think I was correct and explained why. After a couple of messages back and forth I agreed that he did not deserve the warning and killed it.

Had he come to me with, "BTB, you are a total monkey fetish loving jackwagon" I'd not entertain his rebuttal. But he did not, he came as a guy talking to a guy and explaining his deal.

Now, if you truly violated there is a process in place to help you eliminate your warning expiration points but you won't get that option if you come off like Mike Tyson biting the ear off of Evander Holyfield (Holyfield is actually a good guy according to an attorney friend of mine who represented him in a few things) as we will probably tell you to kick rocks.

Come off with a genuine conversation and without an emotional response as to you being all kinds of bent out of shape and we will usually chat with you.

tl;dr - get a warning, respond to the PM with some reasonable conversation (respect is not even required) and see if the warning was an error and if not ask how you can get it cleaned up.

Most of us Mods are people too and treating us with a lack of human decency is really not nice nor is it nice to do that with anyone in real life.

I always wanted to know how old BassTrackerBoats is:D BillyBatts said you"re like his grandfather, is that correct?:D. Please don't raise your ban hammer, I'm such a curious person.

I'm not only younger than him I'm 4 times as good looking.

But he has a Lambo and I have a skateboard so he is rocking the Benjamins and I'm digging cans out of recycling bins and taking them to the junkyard for cash.

I got 4 in total, all of them were justified. I remember one of the 3 was when I left a note to someone who got scammed on the forum in a shitlist post just because I knew of a way he can use to get his money back. @BassTrackerBoats sent me a pm explaining that although I received a warning for violating the rule n4- it still won't deduct any points.

The point is, whenever someone gets a warning, there is a slim chance of him being not guilty of it. If that wasn't the case then just a simple pm explaining the situation will get you sorted.

A good example of a guy who handles things as a gentleman.

Beers on @Society Girl for you.

Not grandfather age, more like father age although, still ancient though in BHW terms, I can't remember anyone on here that's older than him. :D

Keep repeating that as a mantra and it will make you feel better :D I would definitely want to see you do a couple Ollie's on that skateboard.

He's my homie despite him being so tatted up that his entire country ran out of ink.
:D I got a lot of room left though that's why I need to move to an other country, hunting ink!

Is having post removed removed because they are not related to the subject anymore bad?
Can you get banned for getting posts removed on BST's and threads?
Just wondering :anyway:

I've been participating on forums for a long long time. So far I've gotten only a few violations, the majority on BHW. I'm not trying to brown-nose anyone, but I have to tell you: the warnings received on BHW were well earned and explained each time. Just take your licks guys, behave and don't repeat the same mistakes again.
Mods here are strict and it's almost impossible to get away with 'bending' the rules. Mods are not asleep :D.

I got a warning because of a mistake, my post was below the post that I reported and I got myself a warning. :D It was funny, lol. But the mod messaged me that it was a mistake, although I don't know why I still see the warning in my profile. :D

I'm sorry, but whenever I have tried to explained / reason or get answers I get shutdown completely, there is no reasoning or explanation. My last warning points was for posting an affiliate link, which means both myself and the user benefits, but it was deemed by yourself that ' I am only doing it for personal gain'. No explanation on how you came to that conclusion or how my affiliate post was breaking any rules on there.

As someone who could upgrade their membership status to JR, there is no incentive when points are sat on the account because I am not able to trade. I wish subjective rules that are interpreted by the moderators are not worthy of issuing an infraction.

Another example is, I was given warning points a few months back for a 1 word response in a thread, I was deemed as 'spamming'. But, I have seen a comment posted recently by a mod which was just 1 comment.

I feel that open conversations about this topic are not allowed and whenever I send a PM, I just get shut down. Its very frustrating and I know from speaking to others they feel the same.

Referral links are prohibited and one word replies are usually marked as spam.

I've posted ~three word replied before but due to the context of the post it was not market as spam.

8. THE "THANKS" BUTTON.

If you have found the information from another member useful or helpful, please make use of the "Thanks" button, instead of posting a reply that merely says "thank you." This helps us keep the forum clean and free of clutter, and helps to improve the other person's reputation on this forum. You may also use the Rep button (little scale) to give another user positive or negative rep as you see fit, and you may also include a brief note to the other member.

I don't know what you posted as one word reply but if it was "Congratz" "Nice" "Thanks" "Great", etc and if your last replies all look spammy don't be surprised when your reply is removed.

It is not about the length, really, it's about the context.

4. AFFILIATE LINKS.

Affiliate links are permitted only in the "Affiliate Programs" section of the forum, or in your signature. Affiliate links include links to your websites or blogs which redirect to an affiliate link. If you wish to let people know about a new website or program, create ONE thread in the Affiliate Programs forum and provide detailed information about the program, and include two links: one affiliate link and one non-affiliate link. You MUST give others the choice to sign up through your link. Also, do not try to circumvent the Terms by posting about an affiliate program, and requesting others to "PM" you for additional information. Such conduct is no different than affiliate link spam. Black Hat World reserves the right, but is not obligated, to remove your affiliate link, and to issue an infraction or implement a ban, upon notification of any violation of this Section 4.

I think this rule is pretty self explanatory. You're allowed to post affiliate links in the proper section and you also have to give two options, one aff and one not.

The rules might be strict (I'm not clear of warnings so don't think I'm some kind of angel here) but after being part of multiple forums in my life I can assure you they're for the greater good.

I've never really seen such an organized forum as BHW where I don't have to double check every link I press / VT scan 3 times every file I download / taking other rather time consuming steps to protect myself.
