yes that is happening to me many times.....but i get like 15 hits before per day, now nothing......
it is such bullshit.......google is so full of crap.....I just checked number 1 site for that niche.....it is Indian site....with most of commen url backlinks.....and good still supports that shit...I cant believe it......
it is unbeleivable how a seo like that still survives and climbs to number 1 position for very valuable niche.....so should I start commenting too?

Your dropped in ranking might be google dance. You might regain the original position after some time. Don't do any backlink at the moment and see if you regain the position after a while.

Maybe you should start using them... keywords placed in anchors, the right way, are working, and very well. Also, don't forget there are external, but also internal links; they need well-crafted anchors, too.
Maybe they are doing something right. Why don't you try to understand what it is? Probably this is the right moment for an honest and thorough On and Off Page audit for your website; not to mention that regular audits are mandatory, and I assume you know how to use GSC. There are some very good seo audit templates available for free on the internet.

Since you say it is a very valuable keyword perhaps they use hidden PBN links?
Sometimes you look at a site's links and they look like total shit, but they aren't.
I have researched top 3......first one has many comment links.....second one uses every possible job offer site,,so they plug their link......did not see everything...probably but it is more amateur work and quantitiy than something sierious
one person even posted 500 long tail keywords on each page...same keywords......for example are you looking for this perhaps? and then 500 keywords.....are you kidding me and he is second in google.....

March has been bad for lot of folks. You seem to be one of them.
The thing I have figured about your SEO strategy is its One track.
I presume its a Health niche, You have a lot of ground to cover. People these days are not using Social Media, they are exploiting 'em to get more and more traffic on their LP.
Your strategy doesn't seem to aggressively touch that aspect of the game.
Diversifying only forum links is not enough, you need to do a lot more. Diversify the use of platforms, pass the juice and then see where you get!
I quite like testimonial links for my sites (mainly), on top of quality directories, niche directories, high end niche blog comments, PBNs (some shit some not) and guest posts.
Really not hard to do if you research keywords and competitors sites

Well, some time ago I f*cked up with something and Google dropped my blog post from #5 to #35 or so 3 days ago.
Also, I lost rich snippet with stars.
Yesterday I ran through page speed insights and found some real crap, like 51% for PC. After some optimiziation, I managed to get 94%.
After that, I didn't do anything much, but right now my post is #8.
Still without a rich snippet, so CTR is really bad - got about 3 visitors today (when it was #5 with stars - there were about 50-60 visitors per day)
Probably, I have some more on-page issues, or maybe entire website went wrong.
I just started with blogs, SEO and etc, so I completely understand my lack of knowledge about this stuff.
But...well... I definitely won't give up because of some fail.
I wish OP don't give up too and have some more luck.

I totally get your frustration....one minor change and your site can disappear, and it takes some serious digging to figure out exactly WHAT the issue is in order to fix it....SUX but don't give up...
As far as the "discriminatory" part - it may seem that way (although one can argue that there are tons of things you can do to increase your site's speed that have nothing to do with your server, such as minifying HTML/CSS and JS, gzip compression, cache optimization etc) but the "reason" that is a ranking factor is because when your site loads quickly, the average visitor will view this as a more pleasurable experience, and they preach User Experience quite strongly (I say "reason" in quotes because who really knows whether it's the REAL reason or a good excuse? Google isn't known for their transparency)
I am saddened at SEO......it is all about links...spam links, comment linksdirectory....links, that is compettiion doing....fos some time they punished sites like this, but now apparently google gave green light for spamm seo tactics again....it is sick
