I failed at SEO - complete failure

I cant rank anymore....building links via forums used to work...i even use vpn to do that....to avoid detection by google....
First I was in top 10, then I changed some pictures on the page and felll to top 20, now I am nowehre to be found......am I being penalized.....
what is working in SEO??

I did not use even keywords in link anchor text.....I switched them around......i feel like a failure....smalll indians sites sudenly came to top 10 and beat me......and I am not in even top 100 now......what is going on...

Aggressive Forum Post, Blog Comments, Profile Backlinks considered being SPAM. So you may be penalized (Most Probably).

Setup Google Webmaster Tools, you can get the message there for your site. If you are penalized, Identify the possible issues for Penalty fix them and Request a manual review. Hopefully, you can recover your site.

Keep in mind, Before taking any steps:
1. Learn more about SEO. Gather solid knowledge.
2. Keep eyes on recent updates and keep your self-updated on the trends.

What about web2.0, free static sites, guest posts, social signals, infographics, audio & doc sharing platforms?

Surely you can do that if you don't have budget for pbn.

You have to diversify your link profile. Also don't overoptimize anchor text.

that is much better, i never did guest blogs, I always think my english is not perfect and they will just delete the post later on.....
so basically you just write a post...link to some wiki and your site and that is it right? good idea I think.....

This sometimes happens when you update a page. It vanishes for a day then pops back to the same or better spot, depending on what you did.
