I discovered how algorithm work

@PaddyVu I am in the process of creating a YT channel in the gaming niche. You said we should promote it on reddit in appropriate sub-reddits.

Would you recommend promoting in a big-subreddit, such as having more than 3 million members or a few smaller ones with around 100k. Which option do you think is better, or does it not matter?

Nope, it's good to do it, it may reset the index for the algorithm, if it's good, it's only better

That's one heck of a boost bro. Here's my latest video. YT normally boosts my videos like this but this doesnt last long.

it only boosts it for about 2-4 hours and then it stops. views will then be coming from search which is not a lot. It's still a mystery to me on how your videos can keep getting boosted for days.

Edit: I'm in the gaming niche as well but not elden ring.
I also have another gaming channel which I started the same time as when I started uploading in my main channel but that one has a new gmail tied to it (2021) and videos are not getting boosted at all not even a little. My main is decade old account so YT seems to prioritize it over the other one. I don't know if that makes a difference but I just wanted to bring it up

@PaddyVu thanks. This is all super interesting. I'm planning to get more into YT to diversify. Do you delete your low performing videos? Does it matter?

Really old info(5+ years old) and a lot of misunderstanding of why and how the algo works. Also big hate towards youtube shorts for no reason, it fixed the big problem that new channels encounter.

Very insightful post I must say. Did you show your face in the video?

Please explain, PaddyVu did and you don’t add any thing about the “old info”.
What numbers and show us about the shorts?

@PaddyVu you're a champ, about the 15% CTR theory, it reflects completely in my analytics. At first my video had 20-30% CTR so it kept getting impressions. But as soon as it got under 15% (currently u can se it has 13%), the impressions curve became TOTALLY FLAT, meaning that youtube just stopped showing my short to people.
In hindsight this was not a hard thing to figure out lol, but your post definitely helped me confirm that.

I have 2 question though:
1. What's the best way to get CTR back up? (If I have <15% there's no chance that I can people will find my video so what's even the point of improving the title/description?)
2. Since I have no more impressions since the last 20 minutes, why are my views still going up??:

1. Algorithm didnt run i think, 23 impressions then stop... that's too low, you need atleast 1k impressions to see your video is working or not. About the CTR, this is inaccurate, need to wait atleast 6 hours to see the real CTR, my video in the first hour has like 90% CTR and having like 5k views with only 5k5 impressions :) but in analytic, it only shows around 30% CTR
2. Probably come from other sources, or youtube is bugged, or you are buying views, since views come from smm dont have impressions.

Why YouTube is so random? You can try to apply every strategy there is, but it's still gonna do whatever it wants. I'm struggling to get 5 browse feature impressions organically or even when I try to drive external traffic from reddit. Then I publish a random short video and it skyrockets and gets a ton of browse feature impressions.. whyyy? btw it has 1.3% CTR. My normal videos have 10-20% CTR and they're getting 3 impressions..

There's a funny thing happen in my channel, if i dont use community post to promote my own video, the algorithm will not push until i use it. The more views from external during the first 6 hours, the stronger push.
Btw you cant call anything CTR till you have atleast 1k impressions, algorithm didnt recognize your channel atm. That's too low impression

Which means that if you have not reached 1k views on at least one video the algorithm will not recognize your channel?

not views but impressions, algorithm didnt recongize my channel until i post it to reddit and buy some upvote from smmpanel

You say you're not optimizing your video for Youtube search, you're doing it for browsing features, but you still need keywords in the title, description, and tags for the Youtube algorithm to promote your videos

Nope, i think the algo already know the audience of the channel. Because of the external viewer.
