I discovered how algorithm work

CTR come from search do NOT affect your video but the retention rate from it MAY affect a little, i have external views source from community post that have even higher retention rate from browse feature. Look at this, 97% retention rate from external, it even help my videos much more. This is why with good content, a few external views from here will make video go viral quicklyView attachment 221483
Have a look at this.. This almost never happens, a lot of initial impressions and browse views with very little external views.

1660694235550.png

and then this.. This happens 99% of the time even with significantly more external views. Videos are getting only 10-20 impressions in the first day.

Do you have any idea what's the problem? What to do that it would always be like in the first picture?

I will summarize here all the important things the great teacher "PaddyVu" has said in this thread.

I have read it from the first, but note that I may have missed something.
Also, please share this post with any newbies who ask repetitive questions.

---------------------
First of all i'm not good at speaking English so hope u guys can understand what i'm saying :p
I'm just a newbie and also new to this algorithm, however after 1 month of testing, i discovered a lot of thing that can make your video go viral ( OR atleast boosting )
First u have to find popular niche or algorithm wont recongize your video.
Second, always aim for browse feature views, that mean SEO doesnt matter, do NOT try to SEO or make it appear on top search ( This is a waste of time for newbie )
Post your video to a few subreddit that relevant to your content, have atleast 50-100 views from external, after that stop and delete the link. WHY delete? Because organic views are still better than external so it shouldnt be too much, i have 1 video that go viral but at late time because i got too many views from external ( 7-8k ) and organic views only 100 ( CTR at this time is over 10% ) => Algorithm think i fraud. Algorithm will boost a video with 60 organic views plus 100 external and 8% CTR, it will not boost if u have 70 oraganic views with 0 external view and 9% CTR. Ofc with like 200-300 oragnic plus over 10% CTR, algorithm will start boosting instantly but most people cant affort that so make sure to share your video to social media.
Title is your best friend ( thumbnail only matter 30%, i dont know why people say thumbnail matter a lot but for me even i spend 5 hours to create high quality thumbnail, it isnt as good as confuse title), try to make confuse title that people must click on it to satisfy themselves, ofc your video must be relevant to that title, do NOT try to SEO your title, just make confuse title, example " Do u know this thing can kill u? " ; " This is the worst thing in my .... "
Title shouldnt be too long or it will apper as ...
CTR is KING, it has higher priority over high retention. Your CTR must be always above 15% for browse feature ( This can make u have atleast 100k views and above ) ( Mine is 19.2% and sitting at 500k views right now )
6% CTR vs 100% watchtime is worse than 15% CTR vs 50% watch time. Try to aim above 50% watch time, below i dont recommended.
Now for the engagement, do NOT try to make your video perfectly that everyone cant say something funny about your video, u will lose engagement, if u are doing some serious high quality work, try to add some funny moments in it. U can also use your other channels and comment on your own video, make it funny and answerable, people will upvote it and want to react with that comment, this is the key to make your video have high engagement. Limit 1 gmail per comment, 5 gmails per IP, try to watch full video or atleast 90% then add comment so u can trick algorithm and that comment will be legit ( If u go back to your channel and cant see that comment, that mean it's flagged as fraud ) ( for me 3 funny comments is enough for people to enjoy )
Now for the algorithm, it will check your video every hour, when requirement met, it will boost your video for 6 hours equal to your current CTR then drop to 10% of the boosting for 18 hours to test your video, if your video can maintain CTR or even make it higher, algorithm will boost again for another 6 hours and repeat the process.
Video that cant maintain 5% CTR while algorithm boosting will have 3-4k views for entire boost and may DIE permanently unless CTR increase again but this may needs a long journey ( That's why i heard some video may blow up at late time like 6 months after upload )
Video that can maintain over 15% CTR while algorithm boosting will have atleast 100-400k views for the entire boost depend on your retention and put video to test again for another boost.
Pretty much 95% white hat method, only black method is comment on your own video, u can also buy a few reddit upvote ( For me 10 is enough ), crowd effect will do the rest for your content.

---------------------------------
I have read every reply in this thread, spent hours reading and conclusion is as simple as this.

Maintain same *browse features* CTR consistently or close to same for days = views

If you get 10% CTR beginning but within a few hours it drops down to 6%, you're dead
If you get 10% CTR beginning but drops down to 6% within a day, still dead

You have to keep the CTR. Problem is most people in this thread are starting from scratch so getting pushed to browse feature is hard for them to even get started.

Judging by the thread to get pushed to browse feature with new channel you need to share to reddit and get some organic traffic there, not a lot. Then keep trying till you hit big.

Take note though this thread is about videos under 1 minute because watchtime is easy to maintain 100%. With longer videos it's still possible but harder to start from scratch! That is the whole issue. Don't start with long videos.

-------------------------------------
I have several 10+ million view videos and the CTR will go down as impressions go up. These videos haven't got consistently 10%+ CTR, I think some didn't even need 10% CTR to get ranked and get passive organic traffic.
What I notice is that the successful videos have an higher CTR at the beginning, then the algorithm pushes more impressions, which makes the CTR go down, so there is some weird balance that is reached there. I have never bothered to look at individual CTR% per feature (browser, suggested, etc). The most important is that the video is suggested, suggested = more views coming from new people. Im guessing views from new people are more valued than search views or anything else.

What's f*cking frustrating is that sometimes people only want to watch the same thing on the same subniche. For instance, you do Fortnite videos, but Fortnite videos about X subject, they sub, and they don't want to watch just Fortnite in general, but Fornite AND the same f*cking thing, and at some point they become bored of that too and wouldn't click, so yeah, having subs is a problem unless you are able to raise their interest consistently. You need constantly a new stream of people, which is only achieved by your videos getting suggested and getting new subs.

Also I see people in my niche with shitty thumbnails, half assed content and repetitive titles that aren't very special, and little to no SEO, outranking better stuff on the same niche, so luck is involved, you need to have luck so the algorithm likes your channel and you enter in a good row of uploading videos, getting suggested, uploading video, getting suggested etc.

YT and internet stuff in general is an endless paranoia of thinking that your channel has been downranked because some bad luck combination of algorithm readjustment puts you below other idiots that are doing trashy content and get lucky. This is frustrating when you have a whitehat channel where you work hard on content because you want to have watchtime as high as possible, which also leads to less content being uploaded often. Btw, im not sure how relevant constantly uploading stuff is. You are most likely producing garbage if you upload all the time. Of course, if you can somehow get good CTR with nice watchtime by uploading often, I guess you will get more views, but im also paranoid that if you enter in a spiral of bad performing videos in a row, you will lose organic traffic from already ranking videos. So like I said before, this game is a constant paranoia.

This thread does not offer anything new, but it is useful for noobs I guess. And there are some broad assumptions, like claiming the algorithm resets "every 6 hours" when we don't know.

BTW, im talking about longer 10+ minute videos, not shorts trash. Some different metrics may apply for this garbage I guess. But I don't bother with tiktok tier stuff since it pays really low, at least on tiktok, not sure if the RPM goes lower with shorts on youtube, or the RPM is the same and having a lot of views compensates only showing 1 ad at the beginning. Anyway, I don't even upload shorts in my channel because once again, im paranoid it will change the algorithm, I will stick to what i've been doing, which is work on the video and hope you get lucky.
------------------------------------------
Now there's some fun fact, retention rate that above 95% will be considered cheating :) Everytime a video goes up to 95% retention rate, that video wont do any good, stuck at like 2-3k views LOL
I delete like 7-8 videos that goes too far like that, views always stuck at 2-3k, i will try to lower my retention rate a bit by adding some trash thing that they want to skip.
Remember guys, algorithm is just an AI, they are not human... so it can be gamed. But so do they, your content is too good? "Oh yes look like you are buying views from smm, 95% retention rate but do not receive any likes? i will flag this video as cheating" - algorithm said
-----------------------------------------------
Find popular niche or algo won’t recognize
Always aim for browse feature views (do not try to seo)
Post vid to a few subreddits relevant to content (gain 50-100 views from external) then stop & delete link.
Algo will boost a vid with 60 organic views plus 100 external AND 8% CTR.

Will NOT boost with 70 organic and 0 external view and 9% CTR.

With 200-300 organic + >10% CTR, algo will boost instantly

Note:

Title is your best friend (thumbnail matters 30%). Make a confusing title that people must click on to satisfy themselves. Vid must be relevant to title (don’t SEO title).
Example: Do you know this thing can kill you, This is the worst thing in my …
Don’t go too long or it will appear as ……
CTR is KING (higher priority over retention). Must always be above 15% for browse feature. 6% CTR vs 100% watchtime is worse than 15% CTGR vs 50% watchtime.
Aim above 50% watchtime.
Engagement

Not too serious, add funny moments
Use your other channels and comment on your own video. Make it funny and answerable. People will upvote it and want to interact with that comment. This is key to having high engagement.
LIMIT 1 Gmail per comment
Limit 5 Gmails per IP
Try to watch full video or at least 90% THEN ADD comment to trick algo into thinking comment is legit.
3 funny comments is enough for engagement
Algorithm

YT will check your vid every hour, when requirement meet, it will boost your vid for 6 hrs equal to your current CTR then drop to 10% for 18 hours to test your video.
If your vid can maintain CTR or go even higher, algo will boost again for another 6 hrs and repeat process.
Vids that can maintain >15% CTR while boosting will have at least 100-400k views for entire boost, depending on your retention and put vid to test again for another boost.
Other

Buy a few reddit upvotes (for author, ten is enough), crowd effect will do the rest.
-------------------------------------------------------
if it already getting boost for the first time with like atleast 20k+ views ( for my niche ), do not delete, if below => Deleted, try changing title around plus improve rentention rate
---------------------------------------
you can clearly see how when the algo saw that people are watching from search after 3 days it gave a little push and then stabilized for 7 days and now it's going up...
EDIT: this video is 45 seconds long...
EDIT: also this channel is only 10 days old and already got 100 subs, and videos are doing well.... i made about 20 channels before and i failed in all of them. so this one is my best. fingers crossed it gets monetized. can't wait to see some $$$...
---------------------------------------------
Congrats ! You are doing good in your niche ! That's how algorithm work :) search views can help algorithm pick up a lot more quickly, i have like 7 recent videos that got a lot of search and algorithm pick up instantly, wonderful ! Community post help a lot also
-----------------------------------------------
Which means that if you have not reached 1k views on at least one video the algorithm will not recognize your channel?
not views but impressions, algorithm didnt recongize my channel until i post it to reddit and buy some upvote from smmpanel
----------------------------------------------
does this method work if in the previous 10 videos there are videos with an average duration of "10 minutes"?
Sadly no, it only works for video around 2 mins below, the key here is average percentage views not average duration, this is why you post short content like 2 mins and have like 500k views then swap to 6 mins video you only get 20-30k, because the average % views was reduced a lot, unless your video 6 mins have the same % views against 2 mins, then you will likely have more views than the previous one
----------------------------------------------
Hello everyone. I have been trying this method for a long time with SMM panels. I got 400 500 views per hour. But the video never went viral. Maximum 10 or 15k views. it doesn't matter how good the video is or how good the title and thumbnail are. The services in the panels are running bad and late. If it was a decent smm panel, maybe the method could work, but it doesn't exist. Make a private bot with a proxy or use reddit as Paddy said.

Thanks to smm panels, if you buy 1 suggested or external views, you can get an impression of 5k from the suggested views. That's all. They are of no use to anything else. SMM Panels are useless.
-----------------------------------------
SMM Panels should use to buy upvote reddit, buy likes from community posts, note that community posts are ridiculous good when compare to impression from normal algorithm. External from community posts will hold the video alive for much longer than not use it. For example, my video can only has 5k views, with cp, it will increase to 30-40k views, if my video only has 20k, with cp, it may increase to 200-500k views.
---------------------------------------------
community posts in youtube, views from there is extremely good, it hold the video alive for much longer, if the first 3 hours was only 5k views, then it will absolutely end up with only 8-9k views then die, but with community post, it hold recommendation for over 1-2 days
-----------------------------------------------

That's all for now.
Hope this post helps you all.

My reward to me would be a nice "like" on this post.
Just like youtube HAHA

In light of the above, here is my conclusion.

1. have a good title and thumbnail
2. Prepare an inflow of natural views immediately after the video is uploaded, with a high retention rate (this is probably the hardest part).
3. Buy likes, even from the SMM panel.

Boost if CTR is over 15% after one day.
If the retention rate remains high, boost it further.

How to revive an entire bad channel

1. delete bad videos instead of making them private
2. utilize community posts

What to do for newbie channels?

1. work hard for 3 months posting one video a day to take advantage of the initial boost for a period of about 6 months (this was the hardest part for me. Not so much once you get used to it)
2. make videos that are 30 seconds to 2 minutes long instead of longer videos.
3. if you are not on the recommended videos after a month or your video is not on the related videos, then that niche is bad or your title or tags are bad.

I have tried to summarize in my own way, but what do you think?
I would especially like to hear from teachers.

I'm doing multiple tests around publish time, i think it affected a lot of views when algorithm catchs a video, i post a video when audiences are sleeping atm, however, most of my viral videos come around this hour. Each day could be different but should be around this hour. I will report in a few day later
1660709146185.png

There's some weird spike in the video, i think youtube limit impression/views in my niches or my channel, everytime it tries to boost higher, some sort of magic reset it to the ground and repeat LOL

yes, i witness that too, when too many externals with low retention rate like that, that will happen ( i think ). However, if it already like that, i will build like 10-20k external at this point because video isnt running

If your channel is new, you want to sacrifice a few videos for 5000 or even 50k external to get your audience first

My first videos that I shared to Reddit did the best when it comes to impressions given by YouTube. Now about 20 videos that I shared to Reddit and I keep getting a lot of external traffic, but very few impressions. I think I already hit 5000 external total. I just want to find a way to start getting impressions the way I did when I started sharing to Reddit.

This is my first viral video and it took 14 days, i bring over 6k external traffic from reddit.
1660732016522.png

But the best is traffic from cummunity post, my video instant get pushed by algorithm just after 2 hours posting to it, atm every of my video is getting pushed instantly.
They are external, however it's actually internal link. Super powerful.

This will happen when i dont use community tab ( in this case i delete the previous one for new video so algorithm from community can spread more impression )

I think I just migh have found a solution. Still testing it. When I publish a new video if I immediately fully watch it with my other accounts straight from home feed it gets browse features and it recommends to other people from browse features. I think me immediately watching it fully and liking it sends a positive signal to YouTube; therefore, it gives me more browse impressions. It has good CTR and it gets more impressions if retention is good. If I don't immediately watch my videos from home feed it starts getting lots of search impressions and it kills the video immediately. Still need to test this with more videos.

i have 4 alt accounts and everytime i publish a video, i switch to those account then watch a few video in my niches first, like them then i watch my own video after 2-3 other videos, however it's just for comments, i dont think it affect algorithm

When i cant afford good video, they will just leave after watching it, however if i put endscreen to one of my most shares video, my current video will go up again...
This fit the theory, if i already have good video, no need to use endscreen to ruin viewers experience, they will go straight to channel, however with bad video, this should help
1660749795093.png

Yep, ridiculous good for bad video

I thought this through... you were right. I need to get as much views from reddit as possible. Your videos are getting views/browse impressions because you got a lot of subscribers that came from that reddit video that went viral, even if they didn't subscribe but watched the video, they'll be shown your other videos in the future in the home/subscription feed. For other people that do not have enough subscribers or not enough people watched their videos they're getting crappy search impressions as there are not enough people to serve your videos in the home/subscription feed. To fix this issue I need to get as much external traffic as possible to have enough people who watched my videos and would see my videos in the future in their home feed, if not videos will be pushed into search feed which is trash and it's gonna kill the video.

Hey Paddy, does community tab activate itself after reaching 500 subs or do i need something to do myself, i currently have over 800 subs right now(boosted with smm panel) also, does community tab posts only reach my subscribes or more audience outside?

i dont remember, probably active itself, if you cant see community posts, better contact support

I had my doubts at first, but now I think the border is 1,000 people, not 500.
The moment I reached 1000, it was unlocked.

Sorry to keep writing this, but one more thing to add is that the number of impressions has nothing to do with the length of the video.
I have been under this spell for a long time, but it is obvious in Dr. PaddyVu's videos.
Have you ever seen a table like the one in the image?
A one-minute video does not get a million views? That's a lie.

What's that image all about? the first page also my second viral video got 2m9 views atm with length of 41s

Do you know if the CTR improves if you put the title in uppercase or lowercase? Or just capitalizing important words?
