People suck.

Or they sometimes do.

The story goes in short like this:

I ordered a new phone (Galaxy Alpha) from Amazon, because my beloved S3 is not willing to charge. Guessing some of the pins in the USB jack are bent or something. I'll try and fix that over Christmas when I go back home for a few weeks.

Now, I ordered it last Saturday and with the student prime I was promised a delivery on Monday. I was happy, and then came Monday.

I got the text message saying my package had been delivered, which I thought was odd since the door buzzer/phone system in the flat hadn't made a noise. Then I went downstairs eagerly to get the phone, just to realize that there was no package. It was already rather late, so I waited until Tuesday to start going through the other apartments, door by door asking if they had seen or "accidentally taken" the delivery from the delivery guy. Nobody saw nothing, and I checked from Amazon: Delivery comment "Handed to a resident, delivered to Mr. ---". And I certainly had not received the delivery. Again, it was late and I wanted to think it through.

Come Wednesday morning I phoned Amazon and explained the situation, and now this is where it gets weird. I was prepared to argue with them to the end, but it ended up being a short dialogue, including "Oh F*ck" from the customer service agent, and a "I'll sort out a replacement immediately, sir." Now this I could get used to, proper customer service!

Didn't see this one coming, especially from a mega corporation like Amazon.

Anybody have similar/totally different experiences with them or other big companies?

Oh yeah, the replacement arrives tomorrow, and I'll hopefully get it myself, they promised to deliver it after 5pm, which I told I would be home by, and call me when the delivery guy is five minutes away. Guess they don't want to risk a third phone.

And the fricking good guy Greg who nicked the first phone is the best person ever. I hope he gets cancer. (Good guy Greg is a sarcastic metaphor/image, not by any means referring to our actual good guy BTB)

We'll see if I meet the lovely person trying to get the second free phone tomorrow, I'll promise to handle him gently with a 2 by 4.

Amazon support is god damn awesome! i had two problems with their orders and they replaced or offered same day delivery for the problem it caused me.

It's awesome that they take customer support very seriously. That makes me a loyal customer. I hope people don't abuse it though. lol

Hope you get the phone this time. Haha

I bought an iPad one time and it seemed like it had been used before. I asked for a replacement and they sent it out that day. Then they told me to ship the used iPad back within a month. LOL

I had a problem with a gift card somebody tried scamming me, i contacted them through chat and they really did try resolving the issue luckily i got it sorted out myself without the need of Amazon getting involved.

What do you complain about? Hearing "Oh F**k" on the phone?
Did you tell your momma about it?

I guess they wanted to make sure I got it this time, because the delivery was handled by Royal Mail instead of the usual Amazon logistics boys, plus the delivery man called me and asked if I could come and take it personally, or buzz him in to have it safely in the mailbox or something. I went and picked it up from him downstairs myself, he seemed relieved after I showed him my ID :D

Congrats on getting your phone, i had kind of a similar story. I ordered my htc one from amazon and the first one i got would never turn on. Then the second one turned on but for some reason would not connect to the carriers server. Then finally the third one worked flawlessy. Only different is i got all my phones just had problems with them. Glad your story ended well !

I had the same kind of thing happen to me but had paid for express delivery only for the item to go missing, apparently having been delivered to me. The guy on the phone was really friendly and told me that they'd been having all kinds of problems with their delivery provider, I got a replacement sent out but also got the cost of my postage and a percentage of the item cost refunded to me.

I'm glad you managed to get it sorted in the end!

I had to deal with Amazon customer service once in the last 3 years (sellers are generally very good) and I found them pretty decent, as others said its great that your story ends well.
