If I were you I would have tried to expose them openly in the public by conducting some kind of Open sting operation kind of thing.
Go to your employer while camera is on but flash is turned off and start recording while doing so try to make your Ex-Boss out-of tempered and
lost control over him as this will may make him to out-spoke things which he will not commit in a friendly way.
And once you recorded his statement Go and post them all over in social forums whether it is youtube, FB, Twitter,Yahoo's ACC etc.
If they are reputable employer they must be concerned about their Public Image so try to benefit out of it.

Im not sure if I understand exectly whats going on. Why did you have to pay them $800 to work for them ?

If I knew a bit more detail I could recommend a solicitor or debt colletion agency
 
If you are in Ireland - go to revenue office and tell them what happened - they will help you for free.
If the person says its not their problem - go another day to different agent - until someone helps you.
If you are in Dublin go to revenue office next to O'Connell street, they are extremaly helpful.
The guy cannot take money from you for providing job by law in Ireland. Also if he took the money - you are person that can fuck him for not issuing a slip and paying taxes.
I bet the guy will pay you back in few days after he hears from revenue office (they usually call him on the spot while you wait and ask him wtf).

Do you have/can obtain proof (or even possibly pretend to have proof) of any shady dealings or illegal activities. You could easily have some leverage if you do, I had something similar happen to me. They couldn't wait to give me my money back.

Also, you could post his company URL here -- We could make a pretty neat negative SEO case study (everybody loves case studies ;))

Thanks for the kind word man, But I don't want to harm them as its their bread and butter. if I Do such things, there will be no difference between me and them.
I want things to be smooth till end. This negative SEO is left as a last option. :)

This happened to an Apartment Manager in my town a few years back, that refused to give back someone's Security Deposit.

1) Get a large caliber handgun and a ski mask. Put on the ski mask.
2) Quickly walk into the Managers office, aim the gun in his direction, and empty the clip in a circle around him so that the bullets miss by a foot or less.
3) Leave
4) Go to a pay phone, call the Manager, and politely request that he send you your money.

where do you live in india dude let us know ,you never know the owner of the company could be a member here negative seo can't help you if you need money i guess first you need to decide what you want just a revenge would do it or you need money,if you need money you will have to get to the consumer forum or grahak seva kendra anyway if i were really in need of money i would have done this very first time when i left the company its useless to keep on posting and increasing thread count if you need money you will have to do something to get it it was your fault you never asked for any slip or legal document while giving it and if you still don't want to fight this is what it seems from most of your post's then do whatever you wish to
 
Make up you mind and go to small claims court (whatever it is called there). Don't wait any further, or you'll lose any little motivation/strength that has been built...

or you can take a hammer to his cabin and break whatever is conveniently placed in (his) front. (jk)
 
If you are from India then talk to your friends, relatives and get a HUGE connection and then tell that BIG person to talk to your company owner, they will surely give you your money back.

If your relative or connection is bigger than them then it will surely work.
 
Classic method to make some money on the side... has been used by companies for years! They speculate on you not going to court with them, and even if 1 in 10 goes to court they've still made a decent load of cash!

Two ways to go at this... legally or through extortion ;) It depends on what kind of person you are, but reading your thread I guess you're more the legally minded guy.
 
Lets be honest here man, you are up the creek without the paddle.
You have no option of getting the money back, not easily or without cost.

Problem is if you name and shame them, you ruin your own rep too.

My humble opinion says just 2 things to be done.

1) walk away lesson learned

2) get whoever can help on here to DNS attack, hack, screw them in anyway possible.
You repayment would be satisfaction that you have done them over.

Get a good name for yourself first. Take 6 months to achieve it. Get plenty of work, hire those team members and also divert his clients to your own firm, give better service and charge less if needed. Take them to the top. That will kill his business naturally.

After that, send someone to get that $800 with compound interest without fail...
