I Am Giving Up On SEO

For me, SEO is just a way to generate some traffic. What really matters is your money site + you can get traffic from other sources
 
True be told, the only people making money in SEO industry are tools and SEO services sellers.

Yes an authority or niche site creator might make money today but tomorrow is not guarantee.

SEO is a gamble or casino.

That alone shows you don't know what real SEO is, and it is precisely because of those tools that you took a big hit with Penguin 4.0 updates.

Totally understand your feeling, i recenlty got 1 big site hit as well.

But it is not dead, it is just that we are not doing things right. And that can only be figured out by ourselve individually.
 
TBH im feeling kinda the same way. Not that SEO is dead. SEO will never be dead. But Iv had enough of working my arse of on a site just for it to be shat all over by google.

Iv been in the game a while now and been through all the ups and downs but the latest update managed to destroy all the hard work that I did over the past year and I just cant take those chances anymore.

From now on im targeting Bing.

I know that the traffic is fuck all what you can get on google but iv got sites on bing that bring in a decent amount of money each month and have been doing for the past 2 years.

I am still going to target google, but my main focus now is targeting bing as, in my expirence, its alot more stable.

As im a full time IMer, I cant take the risks anymore that come with focusing on ranking on google.

SEO is not dead, but at the same time it's not a good idea to base 100% of your income on SEO.

Continue to get better at it, but at the same time look for other ways to diversify your income streams.

To use an analogy, it would be if like a brick and mortar business relied on a single customer for 100% of it's revenue. Sounds crazy right? But that's exactly what a lot of people do when it comes to SEO.

There are lots of ways to make money in IM (ie PPC, Email, Social Media, etc)

Learn some other ways to make money and you won't stress every time Google farts.
 
Google won't shit over your site unless you shit over it yourself first. The tools are not for doing SEO, they are for speeding up the organic process. If you use them to just do spammy links you will get penalized.
