OP, don't freak out too much about what other people think. If you're making as much money as you say you are, reinvest some and put some away in index funds or something, and you'll have a very comfortable future. I know the feeling of parents putting pressure on you to be doctor, lawyer, whatever... I'm from an Asian family in America, and I work in a damn car parts factory. If you want to do IM (which I'm guessing you do, because you're here) then just do it, and show everyone what you're capable of.
As long as there is an internet, people will figure out ways to make money from it. IM is not going anywhere. Individuals and companies are making too much money from it.
Will IM change? Sure. It changes every day. In fact, every industry goes through changes. You just have to adapt. It's not really that hard.

Just remember smartness comes in many different forms.
IMHO every single person has the same ability to be smart, but we all use it in different ways.
Also, people judge success in different ways, so you can't necessarily say one man is more successful than the next.
And grades can be extremely important and beneficial to some and less so to others.
