So, on 30th i got my 10th class result and i got 9.4/10. I was happy with my marks but problem is many of my school friends got perfect 10. Some of them got their photos published in newspaper.
Today, when my mum saw that, she was furious and even now she is angry. She wants me to become scientist or doctor but i want to be a international cricket player or full time IMer.
Atm i make more $$ than my father and teachers and could live off peaceful life with it. But fact that students get higher marks than me sometimes worries me. They don't do IM or anything. Just study and study. I admit i don't study at all, since i only like to read and solve problems, don't want to be the brilliant, studious and bookworm. But fact that my mother hates me for this, discourages me.
I don't know what to think of, or what to do. I am very confused.

You are right abt everything except cricket. But i just love cricket and i can be a good bowler.
 
The traditional Asian culture. I'm Chinese but I live in Indonesia, and my parents always wan't the best out of me, especially in Maths and Science. Well you should try explaining to your parents again that you earn more money than them.
 
Calm down, nothing happened. You just need to focus on the important things in your life. And bad grades are not the worst case :)

8.5 for me in 9 class, Math subject/Lithuanian and English languages are perfect for me, so I am happy, and I know that if I study those subjects hard, I will go to University to study programming . Man, don't worrry :)
 
Dude, 9.4/10 is almost perfect. Still your mom is angry about that? If I get that kind of grades, my mom will be happy and proud of me. They should be happy for you because your grade is excellent and you earn more money than them.
 
Since you are also from India I can understand your situation. This mentality is very common among Indian Parents(My parents were the same when I was in your class but later their mindset changed).

A simple tip which can affect your future:

DON"T join Science field just because your parents are saying you to do that. Go with what you love to do. I am saying this according to my experience. Few of my friends were pushed into this "Doctor and Engineer" rate race after 10th and now guess what, they are either jobless due to their low marks in final year or trying for higher studies because they have no choice.

While, you have a choice here. I would highly advice you to join Commerce field or Arts or whatever you like but don't join science since its not at all related to IM if you are considering to pursue this field in future. If you are doing commerce then you can later try out BBA and MBA, not for job but for related knowledge since IM is somewhat related to that. Think about it..Also you can pursue you passion for cricket while studying commerce or Arts so you will have more leisure time.

Tell you parents clearly you want to do as its your future and you will be the one who be get fu*ked after completing your graduation as its simply not worth it. So pursue what you like to do.

Well, study required for being scientist or doctor is tough and i don't that either. Money is not everything for me and i just want to earn so that i never have to be helpless ever. And 2k a day is not impossible, i know a guy make 40k a month. It just require time.

@everyone, thanks for replies. I am feeling better now. My mind was full of so many things, i was unable to think clearly. I am going to take non medical, since i like science. Just for fun :)

Since your 18 and already making more than your parents, move out. And tell them to f*ck off, and never speak to them again.

yes +1 for it , i am currently in 12 non-medical [ my parents forced me ]

and i am trying to make $100 + this month and then i will be able to tell them that i want to go in im .

but my father wants me to join nda [ my grandpa was a major in army ]

and i can not tell my family that i want to join im [ because they think internet is facebook and you know what fb is know for ;) ]

he is a indian not a american , his parents have provided him every thing he want .

they want him to be a doc / eng because they know it will make his life easy .

my advice = just tell them truth

Wow chill. Not everyone is on bad terms with their parents. They are just worried about his future. No reason to cut all communication with them.
But I agree on the "move out when you get the chance to" part.
