Well I have a small story to tell you today. In my school im in the computer talent class so I basically know a little (a bunch) about computers and stuff.

I was offered this competition where I would create a website and the first thing that came to my mind was how I could monetize it. So then I realized I have 5 other people in my group who will be writing content alongside me. Then I thought about how I would make the site.

The site will be about finance (yes its a big niche). Finance usually pays well. I will probably end up with about 20 web pages of content which is 100% original.

I feel evil because when this is over I could end up with a laptop by winning the competition and making even more money from monetizing the site on its own domain. I will probably tell my group about my plans so they could get a chunk.

Thoughs,Feelings anyone?

keep it to yourself and whoever in the group does the most and helps out the best. secretly give em a bonus

I wouldn't tell the group anything either. If they don't understand anything about SEO and IM, they'll probably get all greedy and ask for more money than the value of their contribution.

If you wanna compensate them, I'd pay them the going rate for content and not tell them what you're doing with that content. But even then, they'll get curious and try to find out what you're doing.
 
Ha just tell them all those ads you are putting on the sites is to help you get traffic and BS something about those sites promoting your sites. Then when you start getting shittons of traffic they will just assume its your ads!
 
try to pressure them into writing more articles than they need to.
 
When in doubt, shut up. I wouldn't tell them anything either. In fact, I would try to get other groups material also.
 
Yeah, I wouldn't tell them shit. If you tell them they're gonna want more money than they are worth, just hope your teacher isn't doing exactly what your plan is :)
 
I love that I have found a place with so many like minded people here lol. I was thinking of replying yeah man just go for it and don't tell em anything. But I guess I dont need to now....

Okay you guys all agree that I should shut up so I will. I have about 60 days until the end of the contest and 5 group members. If I can get them to write 1 page every other day I would end up with

30x5=150 articles

150 articles would be crazy right
 
I see you discovered the little secret us old folk know: young people are highly manipulated and can be taken advantage of. You can make them work for free as "interns" and most will go off to fight your war. There are some advantages of getting old. ;-)
 
If you feel guilty... tell them if you win you'll treat them to pizza. They are probably too naive to know its a negotiation and will likely agree to those terms.
 
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Do you call yourself evil? thats no evil, thats being a bastard. Use your school time to make friends. If you are lucky few of them will follow you for the rest of your life.
