Hurricane Sandy - Please read ASAP- 65 Deaths

Hey ddvv, what are you doing there ATM, go back to safety and to warmth. Take care, man.

I just heard on Weather.com that the high tide is going to flood areas 12~14 feet high (may be more, above sea level). So if you're anywhere in the danger area, go to upper areas at the earliest.

Some important links & latest headlines in the NY / NJ / CT areas:

It's already dark.. Lights flickering a little... Plus mandatory get off the streets in Zone A or you might get arrested.
But that is not going to stop us. We might be going out again in an hour or at 1am when the surge gets here.
That's when the real fun starts.
And yes i know to be careful and we have already spoken with each other about what to do if we get in trouble...
Don't think we will tho. Last year we did the same and got some really really nice shots.

I have been watching TV news on this all day. The wind and rain is still not too bad in my area but expecting it will get worst overnight.

Brighton , coney island just lost power. We are in the dark. Water has breached boardwalk.... this shit is serious now

Preserve your cellphone battery power.

@ Mods or Admins of BHW:

Is there any other way to be in touch with our members if connection to BHW is affected? Like some other outside link, etc. where members can still watch feedbacks from those affected and from those who still has power and internet.

If we do have such a link, please mention it here so that all following this thread, including those who are affected, are aware of it...

Thanks.

I think the IRC Chat room would be one way.

Good luck to everybody out there.. My prayers are with you

Its live right now in Queens, NY.
I was living in Jackson Heights, Queens many years ago and had found people there to be very friendly with me and my other Indian colleagues who stayed in our apartment building. On way to my office (opp Penn Station, Manhattan), we made many friends. Even a person begging on the train, and who said he was suffering from advanced conditions of AIDS, the first real-life person that I saw suffering from that deadly disease, used to give me a warm hello, and a great smile even though he was visibly in pain. Well, today I am remembering them all, and praying for them...

My best wishes to everyone who is suffering from this storm. May God bless you all and keep you safe.

Why did you put please read again?

This Sandy stuff is on every TV network, we heard. Hope you good but no need to put please read. There is no new information here.

I agree with others the media most the time over-hypes shit, fear is great for ratings. I'm on the west coast but watching it on the news it seems pretty bad. Wish you guys all the best and stay safe.

The storm is almost over. Hopefully we will get things up and running within a day or so.

That's almost 24 hours you had been in the storm since it picked up force in your area, and now it's receding from there. That would give some people who are in its way some comfort to know how long they should expect to be within it. Hopefully very little part of this time was very scary for you all.

Wish you all great peace until everything returns back to normal. (Then will come the usual office rush hours, getting things and home back in order, drying up pets, cleaning gardens, rooftops, and car-tops, getting more groceries, food, getting used to the TV roars, constant bombarding of adverts, and trying to get some rest in between...:))

So that's almost 24 hours of storm from its beginning to almost getting over in the region. (about 6 hours were the most testing, isn't it? since 6 pm last evening till about now (midnight))

Hope no one is hurt...

God Bless!

Now that the storm is over its time to head out to my home in Long island. I will try to get some pictures. I am praying that the house did not flood but seeing how bad it was at 2pm yesterday I can only imagine.

PS: TRUST ME, THE MEDIA DID NOT HYPING THIS HURRICANE UP. WE HAVE NEVER SEEN DESTRUCTION LIKE THIS AND I LIVED HERE MY ENTIRE LIFE. WORST STORM I HAVE PERSONALLY SEEN HERE IN NY.

Thank you for that much awaited update. Hope every thing is fine. Hope your family, relatives, friends are all ok.
