We have Matty heading up the coast in Florida and hopefully anyone in his way gets to safety. I won't get a direct hit where I live but we are forecasted to get 50 Mile Per Hour winds and about 5 more inches of rain (we've had 4" + thus far) so we are pretty safe.

I made a video, using my wife's iPad, of the view from my back porch about 8 AM today with the winds supposedly about 20 MPH and will take some more videos as Matthew makes his way north.

You can't see from the video but I filled the canoe with water yesterday to keep it from ending up in the middle of nowhere as the early forecasts had us getting 70 MPH winds.

We should get the worst of the storm in a few hours or so and I'll see if that is worth recording.

Wow... you have a gorgeous view! Stay safe - we never really get full blown hurricanes in Massachusetts.. usually the remnants come through a few days later but they have this one going back out to sea.

Been reading the news on this for the last few hours, nuts. Stay safe man.

There are rumors of people being evacuated from that area. Is this true?

oh wow stay safe guys, always wonder does alligators come to your backyard often ?

We get the occasional gator but I have not seen one in our yard. The go after the ducks that live about 7 - 8 houses away and someone calls a State agency and they come and relocate them.

There have been evacuations along the Ocean but I'm inland about 45 minutes or so and we have had no call for that.

I live in Miami and it was supposed to hit us head on. Nothing ever happened and we put up shutters got tons of supplies and loaded up on gas. We were more than prepared and all we got were some light showers. Really sucks because I have people in my fam that are public claims adjusters that would have made bank. Better safe then sorry I guess. We prepped as it was Andrew all over again.

Well, this year we got so many rainy days, and have seen all the biggest storms on Pacific ocean. Good morning and stay safe man!

Stay safe, guys. Hope it won't do much damage an people who evacuated will safely return to their homes.

Power is out now. Using the phone hotspot but here is the 11:00 AM update.

I should have not cheaped out and bought a generator like any normal person would have done.

Here's a pic of the water almost going wave like and the water hitting part of the bottom of the dock.

Not a very good pic but you may be able to see the water movement in the top of the pic.

That's a pretty strong rise in the lake level; maybe 8 - 10 inches or so.

'Tis a shame I don't drink anymore as this is perfect Hurricane Party weather.
