hundreds of spammy links

So over the past few months we've been hit with a load of spammy backlinks pointing to one of our sites. Hundreds of them. Most are nofollow, but after digging around a bit, it seems Google can still follow nofollow links in some cases. They changed it from a directive to a "hint" back in 2019, so there's no guarantee they're being ignored.

The domains look like the usual garbage, link farms, scrapers, that kind of thing. Screenshot attached. Has anyone else run into the same thing recently?

Specifically:
  • Did you bother disavowing, or just leave it?
  • Any actual ranking impact you noticed before/after?
  • Are there specific domain patterns here that anyone recognises from past negative SEO hits?

For what it's worth, we're in the igaming niche.

I know the general advice is "nofollow = don't worry about it," but with the hint change and the big volume, I'm not 100% comfortable having all these spammy links. Leaning toward building a disavow file but wanted to see what people who've actually dealt with this think before I go ahead.

i usually just leave them if no big drop shows. google mostly ignores random spam. only disavow if rankings start tanking or link spam looks targeted.

don't worry about, everyone has them on their sites. lol they are the worst yes, but it shows you more than ever google and others don't use crap spam sites as links, even if some of them have 70+ DR! :D

Haha yeah, everyone has a few of those on their sites. They’re annoying, but it’s a good reminder that Google mostly ignores spammy links, even if the site shows a high DR! :)

Disavow the domains not individual URLs, faster and cleaner. In iGaming Google is pretty good at ignoring obvious spam but with that volume I wouldn't risk it, takes 20 minutes to build the file and gives you peace of mind.

Everyone gets these. Most of the backlinks that are promoting telegram services actually block Googlebot - they're only interested in getting displayed in Ahrefs etc, so that curious webmasters might take an interest.

personally i dont worry much, because imagine like a strong backlinks site like facebook.
Even if anyone spams it dont worry because domain power is so strong
