How's my competitor ranking?

Hi everyone,

I have one competitor which outranks me in most terms, i can't seem to see any reason as to why they should.

Wondering if anyone with perhaps more experience can dig a bit deeper so i can possible use the same methods etc to outrank them.

Often times a smart SEO will build PBN links and hide them from the services that can find them.

Not too hard to do and that may be what your competition is doing.
 
And what tools / methods have you used to try to discover what he is doing?
 
Have used ahrefs to try and find backlink profiles. What other methods are there?
 
Hey deerhunter308, you can use a tool to identify the backlinks your competitors have and then start contacting those webmasters that would be willing to link to your site as well.

On the internet you can find the nulled version of this suite, SEO spyglass is a really nice tool to see your competitor backlinks.

the nullled versions no longer pull rankings from their updated database so u might as well have to get a paid one
 
I wrote something called PBN hunter (it's free/full/no catches) so pm me the domain or download the tool and I'll take a look. It basically scrapes all major search engines for results relating to their keywords then checks those scraped websites to see if they're linking to the money website. Might be helpful, doesn't always find hidden pbns but I've found a fair few with it :-)
 
I looked at your keyword and measured over 300 on page factors across the top 100 results. Here are all the factors that correlated with rank position that your website was deficient in:

Looks like you are low on exact matches in headings, contact/terms/privacy pages, no schema markup, standard device conventions like touch icons, social integration and plus ones.

That's a pretty interesting report. Do you think plus ones help ranking much? Or to the point of it being worth trying to get natural plus ones?

I've seen plus ones correlate for a lot of different terms recently and the correlation strength is usually quite high. I am starting to think Google has it wired in as a factor, perhaps to help boost the usage/importance of the failing social network.

There are keyword niches where social doesn't correlate at all... so check your competitors before investing in this factor.
