I'd probably focus less on adding NSFW content and more on giving creators better control over recommendations, monetization, and content discovery.

I’d improve YouTube’s recommendation system so smaller channels with good content have a better chance of being discovered.
I’d also make the moderation and demonetization rules clearer, because creators often don’t know exactly what caused a video to be limited.
I wouldn’t allow general NSFW content, but I think YouTube could have clearer age restricted categories for mature content.

honestly i would fix the search algorithm. right now yt search is pretty much dead for anyone trying to do actual seo. they just push recommended videos from massive channels even if the content barely matches what you typed in. makes it almost impossible to rank new stuff organically unless you already have a following or drive external traffic to trigger the system... which kinda defeats the purpose of having a search bar.

Probably I would be more concerned about giving better controls for monetization and recommendations to the creators rather than concentrating on NSFW issues. Discovery mechanism would have been more helpful for the users than any random algorithms.

I would remove the shorts from youtube.... I hate searching for videos and the majority of results being a 5 second short ripped from tiktok.

The ship sailed a long time ago for NSFW on YT. I think a good majority of advertisers would bail and then they'd enter the AV / processing nightmare.
Personally, I'd tighten up on the AI slop and work on increasing visibility for new and upcoming creators.

They should improve homepage feed suggestion algorithm immediately. Always suggesting the same shit like a boring loop.

I also think Removing the dislike button feels like "Golden Star" energy. That paradigm in schools now where all the kids win so they don't feel left out.
Realistically its also a form of censorship or maybe even bordering into propaganda territory. If we can only Like but not Dislike anything then what is that really? its a false sense of reality, everyone must hit the like button because its bad to make your own decision and hit the Dislike, infarct we removed it so you can't.
I also wan't to know why can we install browser addons and see/use the dislike again? the metric is clearly still there just hidden officially. This sounds like shaping public opinion using a form of censorship.
