How Will PBN De-Indexing Affect the Expired Domain Market?

I have two theories on what might happen, if anything:

1. The demand, and consequently the value of expired domains will decrease as fewer and fewer people resort to building PBNs.
2. The cost and effort of running a PBN safely will increase to the point where it only makes sense to use very high authority domains. The higher end stuff will increase in value, and the lower end stuff will drop off the map.

Any other theories?

I have a theory, my theory is that a lot of people who know very little will come along and start preaching their theories, these theories will be taken as fact and re preached to the millions of noobs. Noobs will then begin to take over forums, forums which were once a reliable form of information will become places infested with noob shit. And all because titles like "thebestatSEO" are still available to register.

I was looking for theories, not facts :p

And then places like SE Roundtable and SE Land will reference these threads and create a load more fear for Cutts to play off.

I think it's the other way around. Deindexing will increase demand. It like after a Hurricane hits. Does the price of beach front property go down or does the cost of building supplies go up?

I hope you're right. The value of expired domains is a big influence on my business.

Demand will definitely decrease as many people discard their PBNs or the idea of building one. Expired domains are likely to become cheaper as a result.

I disagree with your second theory though. Using domains with very high authority won't make your PBN safer. The most important thing about PBNs is how the sites are built. If they look like PBN sites, Google will treat them as PBN sites and won't spare them during their updates.

If, however, they look like legit sites, they'd probably have a higher chance of surviving algo updates.

I think i'm missing something.. is google de-indexing expired domains now? What happened ? There was any discussion about it on BHW ? thanks.

The second theory was more along the lines of 'If you're making the additional effort to required to build PBN sites safely, you will want to do so with higher authority domains'. Basically the value of expired domain has to be enough to warrant the effort of builing a PBN node.

I heard google was going to take hard attempts at algorithmic and manual action towards third party PBNs. In turn they are then going to start selling their own expired domains for x,xxx - xx,xxx similar to the effect of adwords for more profit.

I guess we should all buy Google stock now before this revenue stream takes off!

My prediction: business as usual - those who know what they're doing will continue to cash in, and those who speculate without action will continue to sit on the sidelines and throw about their useless gossip.

How about we stop discussing about these theories and start building real PBN?

Google very publicly cracked down on guest blogging, they did the same on paid links, they have condemned all sorts of link building strategies...and yet people still continue with them. There are so many people out there hoping/wishing to make an income online that I can't see demand changing much at all. Plenty of these people have small budgets so the lower end of the market will still be chocked full of buyers.

The cost of running a PBN will only go up for those who have been cutting corners - for those already taking the necessary action, nothing much changes.

...and what are these neccessary actions? Perhaps you can share something?

I'm not going to theorize. I've had more people contact me regarding buying expired domains this week and using my crawler than in the last month. So a lot of people see this as an opportunity to build a new pbn, add to a current one or get out of one with many participants so they create there own which should be much safer and really a true pbn since nobody else knows about it.
