Hey BHW,

as far as i am aware, press releases can be a great way to get some high PR backlinks to your site. I am looking to use this method on my own sites, they are mainly affiliate sites based around upcoming products. How do i write a press release? What do i have to include and what style do i have to write it in?

Any examples would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
-Michael

Just speak from a position of authority and make sure to include:

Introduction - what is the product/service
Key Points/Features - what are the products/service key points/features
Why is the product better than competitors?
Brief History of the product

That should make a nice press release - but remember you have to think about what this content is being used for - are you posting it on a PR website that is visited by thousands of people who are likely to read it - if so then this press release will be a real source of traffic, you'll have to make sure your copy is good as it will be the main thing standing between those visitors and your website.

IF the press release site is not visited that much and you are doing this type of linking for SEO reasons then the quality of the press release can be much lower - however make sure that it is good enough to pass manual inspection (many pr websites have a review/moderation period) - but at the end of the day if it's for SEO this is purely for spiders/bots to crawl so you don't need to create masterpieces..

Hope that helps!

Create it like you are writing for a news organ, and that the subject (the site, or niche that relates to your site) is actually newsworthy. Go to Google News, use its search bar to find some sample topics, and look at the kind of results that come up, and how they are written. That will give you an idea of how to write the release.

are people still using press releases for backlinks? thought that was dead?

We write and distribute at least a dozen a day for our clients... in a couple of weeks or so our services will be available in the BST here. They are most certainly not dead, as long as they are used effectively.

Hi, You're right - a PR, when done right, is a mighty tool! But honestly, it is best done by people who know the deal. There are various people on sites like Fiverr who do a mighty fine job.

Some great information guys, thank you very much!

Press Release proves to be really effective if it is done in the right way and proper manner, it truly is a smart technique for those people who know the right use of a press release. It is not hard to find people who are doing this job and will help you get some good matter. good luck with your search.
