I would imagine your site is still in the sandbox in all honesty, 4 months is not a very long time SEO wise in this day and age. Wait until the 5-8 month mark and hopfully your traffic will start lifting off similar to these analytic screenshots in my journey thread.

This advice is repeating here and there, but if you want traffic, then you need to do proper on-page optimization, there many guides online and threads on BHW to learn from.
Create content that will be attractive to users and thus be shareable.
Backlinks are important too, but it is not a good thing to start from black hat methods when promoting a new website. You can reach results with on-page SEO and then involve black hat to double your results.
