How to Stop Being Lazy

These are all good tips actually! I know firsthand. I used to work in adult and make six figures a year just from submitting galleries! I never used an alarm clock and sometimes my schedule would get SO F'd I would sleep ALL day and work at night, I would wake up at 4PM and it would go in a cycle, next day wake up at 5PM etc. It went on in a cycle for years.

I never made lists. I would spend all day reading gossip sites, shopping online, messing around etc. Not productive at all! I became really broke (spent all my money, adult doesn't sell anymore at all!) and had to get a real job working 9-5... Actually I work 8-5 (1 hr lunch) and I've never worked more. It's like non-stop work and on top of that I have really bad anxiety so I have an intense sense of urgency working for someone else; I NEVER had that "urgency" feeling when working for myself.

When I worked for myself of course there were times when I worked a lot, but it was different; I could always take a break etc. At work now I am just "on" every day. It's completely different.

Another Simple Tip

Don't stay in your pajamas or whatever you sleep in. When you wake change your clothes as if your going to a real job.

Set an Alarm - If you are sleeping freely you are likely under the sloth effect. So pick a time when you are most productive or just any time in general and set an alarm to wake you. This is one of the most important steps if you don't already do so as it makes you much more energetic and productive compared to waking up without one.

I highly highly disagree with this one. I get so much more done when I sleep 10 hours per night and am able to sleep in til whenever I'm ready to wake up. In fact I'd say that being able to sleep in every morning is probably the single best reason for doing this for a living instead of a 9-5 job

For me, going to bed the same time every night is way more important than setting an alarm. If I can do that, my body knows when it's time to get up. And I've found that getting up before or after that natural point decreases productivity. But if I'm always staggering bedtimes then my body has no opportunity to get into that rhythm and that natural alert feel-good wakeup gives way to foggy noontimes...

don't think about how you will spend the money you make because itll result in you not making that money and you'll have wasted your time thinking about it!

That's a lot of great tips in general and some I'll have to try or at least get better at them. I find once I sit down at the computer my mind wanders to aimless places. One minute I'm working on posting craigslist ads and the next I'm watching a monkey riding a dog. How does that happen? Well that's the power of the Internet.

There's a program shared here called The Action Machine:

You can find it there^

All it does is sets a timer for a task that you want done and just lets you know when you're done. It's actually surprising how good it works. You wouldn't think so, but if you close everything on your computer except the thing you're working on you actually get work done and it's made me a lot more efficient in getting tasks done recently.

Sorry for semi-hijacking the thread OP. Even though it's not necessarily a lazy problem it is in the same category and makes you more efficient.

I use a dry erase white board to write down my daily tasks. I usually write them down before i go to bed or right in the morning. helps me stay on track.

Medical studies agree with me. Setting an alarm doesn't mean you have to cut short on sleep, but random sleep patterns encourage lazy behavior.

There are two reasons that can happen. First being that you have a short attention span and could use some help with your focus. It could be caused by ADHD or many other reasons.

However the second reason does pertain to lazy behavior and it's an act of procrastination. You are basically finding ways to put off what you should be doing by entertaining yourself elsewhere.

I do not think I am lazy, just sometimes overwhelmed by things. I think you are right about just taking action.

If I worked 90% of the time I'm on the laptop 'working' I would probably be making 200/day instead of $20 :(

"Just take action"

Avoid Traps - Do not fall into energy draining traps such as watching youtube or coming to BHW to read the latest and greatest methods before finishing your daily tasks. Of course avoid video games as well.

sooooo true :D damn

Thanks for the tips! ;D

'Avoid Traps' (80% of my free time, I'm playing some video-games) and 'Don't Think' (I think too much before actually doing anything) are clearly my biggest issues.

I also fall in this one that's why I cleared most of them.

But still I watch movies during the night.

Great tips tho.

just what i needed to keep on going

will surely improve my working now

thanks a lot

Great read. I've been guilty of overanalyzing things in the past, so when I found blackhatworld I decided to jump right into blogging. Learning a lot, but I feel like I wouldn't have even started yet if I were to stick to my old ways.
