How to start a blog properly in 2020

Who can help me out?

I am looking to start a travel/nomad blog with affiliate links and promos for my Instagram.
But how to start a blog properly and monetize.

Never done this before. Who can help me out?

If you want to go the easy route. Go to namecheap, buy a domain and buy easywo from there. The install a blog them on your woedpress site and your done!
Around 12$ total expenses and 3 or 4 every month.

Domain, separate hosting and installing wordpress. Not that hard at all, but if you are just starting it could be confusing.

Just do it and you wil figure it out along the way

Content? you need write it yourself, or hire writer
it's best if you can write it like personal experience

monetization? it start when you have traffic, Ads, aff, CPa

I recommend you get a domain/hosting.
Then you add 50-100 articles, over the course of ..say 3 months time.
By that time, you should slowly begin to see some traffic to your site, and you can now sign up for Amazon and Adsense.
Add your links, and keep writing articles.
I will say, honestly its a very hard niche you selected.
Better to do travel on Youtube, than as a blogger.
If you could do both it would be great.

I highly suggest reading a few of the Homeresque epic journey threads for blogging while taking notes on everything you don’t understand. I mean everything from words , terms , concepts and abbreviations and then realize that Google can update it the next day you gotta learn again . I feel it’s great to have a page of holy shit I need to learn this live and direct thumbing its smug little SEO nose at you.

Now I have been spending time looking into this because I travel a lot anyway and it could be a cool way to keep track of it all even of the site just paid for itself.

Seeing as everyone from 16-35 who doesn’t have kids seems want to do this( myself included) I’m curious to hear why or what would make you standout ? The niche of the niche so to speak. When you do one niche doing it’s bizzaro niche wouldn’t take much more effort.

A few travel niches ideas I’ve ping ponged around myself would be things like

Budget travel in Europe. The more hippie college kid backpacker thing and then like family budget travel. Other than airplane tickets and a few museums these two niches would have lots of different talking points.


Some tips would cross over making content a bit easier but both of those demographics are different enough to see what works better as far as easier keyword hunting goes. Or are they both too saturated but you figure out 40 year old freshly single ladies are looking to spend her ex husbands money on young European D .... totally different things but I bet you all three have of posts and content right now but not all three would have the same.

As long you are willing to think outside the box as far as what you write you can do well. Avoid what everyone else is copying and trail blaze that shit my nomad brother .

As someone who is also trying to figure this out I’d love to know a healthy financial expectation you’d like to achieve from this new venture if you don’t mind.

Pick a sub-niche

Use answerthepublic to find questions related to your subniche

Enter your sub-niche questions into Google and reverse engineer the first 5 results using the factors below
- metadescription (what's their target keyword?)
- word count (what is the average length? What's the longest competitor content?)

Find LSI keywords for additional 'context' per blog post



Write your content

Make sure your content complies with Yoast SEO or RankMath

Make sure you include additional subheadings on related sub-topics (this is to establish context) - short answers

Are you a time traveller ? Or something.

Travel niche is a very cometitive niche. I would suggest you to follow a niche that can make an easy path something with low competition niches. Get a domain from namecheap and start with wordpress. pay more attention to the content.

As a newbie, first search for the topic that hasn't been answered in Google. It is more important to search for a unique topic than writing content. Because when the topic is unique, you easily rank in Google search results.

You definitely have to put some research into this whole journey.
Look up everything one by one. Note down information that seems important to you.
Again, this forum provides most of information needed in order to put together a whole blog.

Option 3, you can hire somebody to create a blog after your needs and set it up properly.
Might cost a little but on the long run it will be a good investment.
