So I just bought a domain with cloudflare to set up a businesses email inbox to be used for cold email sending and noticed that the DNS records are empty. Normally when I buy a domain with another Registrar let's say IONOS as soon as I go to the DNS setting I see a bunch of records already populated for me. This does not happen in Cloudflare so I would like to know what records are necessary for the domain to work.
I guess I need to add a few A records But I don't know what to add here
Let's say I am adding an A record where do I get my IP address if I register to Cloudflare? I will expect an IP address from them where can I find this?

Cloudflare has lots of guides you can follow. I am sure it is not really that hard for you.

Iam new to Cloudflare the instructions there where not really Clair to me as most examples or cases are about protecting and connecting a website which is not my case in my case iam looking to set up 10 domains with 10 mail inboxes from name cheap but I will like to buy all may domains directly from Cloudflare instead of buying else where, then changing name server over to Cloudflare, deleating all the previous records populated and finally adding the records. In this case when I buy directly from Cloudflare I see no records so iam blank as to what else should I do with no ip address. It would be good if I can find out if I buy my domain in Cloudflare where should I grab Cloudflare ip address from??

You can get the IP address for your A records in your hosting. Not necessarily from Cloudflare.

Name: @
Record or value: your_host_ip address.

Tips: check the DNS records of your hosting and directly copy/paste them exactly into your Cloudflare DNS.

Note: ensure you have changed the Name Server in your hosting to your Cloudflare Name Servers (if necessary). Just use the option called something like CUSTOM NAME SERVER in your hosting and add the two Name Servers provided by Cloudflare.

If in doubt, you may want to contact your hosting support or hire a TRUSTED freelancer to do it for you, for $5 to $20.

Hope that helps

Cloudflare doesn't automatically populate DNS records since they function more as a security layer than a traditional registrar. But setting them up is easy. For your business email, you'll likely need MX records to point emails to your provider. You won't find a Cloudflare IP for A records because they handle that routing for you.

- These depend on your email provider. They'll have specific instructions on what records to add.

- If you're pointing a website to the domain, you'll need the IP address from your web hosting provider, not Cloudflare.

- There are also resources in the Cloudflare dashboard to help with specific record types [Searchcloudflare manage DNS records].
