Try feedburner. Whenever you add a new article on your site feedburner will automatically send email about the article to all subscribed members of site.

funny you should mention this: the last two days, i had been looking up sources similar to what you are asking about IF i understand what you want. mail servers and self hosted autoresponders? you want to either host your own mailing list or have more control over it?
sorry, i cant help you from my direct experience, just post what i looked up both yesterday and what you asked about. . I have no personal experience with any of these yet. so if you are interested you will have to research. there doesnt appear to be a lot of talk on this forum about that except for chimpmail and aweber. there appear to be a couple dozen choices at least.

10CentMail is Email Marketing Software for small business built on Amazon Simple Email Service.

What does 10centmail do?
10centmail gives you a simple and affordable way to send email campaigns to your customers. 10centmail will take your list of contacts and put together custom-made emails. It only costs 10 cents per 1000 emails to send!

10CentMail, the desktop solution to your email marketing problem, lets you store your email on your own computer. Its one time cost, as low as $99, gives you the freedom to save money and adjust your email marketing to your own budget rather than paying high monthly fees just to keep emails stored with someone else.

Why go this route?

1. Cost savings
Say you have a list of 20,000 contacts. You buy MailMachinePRO for $60(with discount: $35.40) and install it on your server(or we install it free of charge). You then signup at smtp.com or authsmtp.com for 20,000 contacts which is $27/month. If you went the hosted route - ie. constantcontact.com, the price for 10,001-25,000 contacts is $150/month. Aweber charges $130/month for 20,000 contacts. By having smtp.com or authsmtp.com send your mail you get the same deliverability benefits as a hosted solution. They have the same safeguards in place and take the same precautions. You also get additional benefits that a WF member wrote so eloquently below.

2. You control the database - If it's on your own server, then you have full control of the MySQL database. In contrast, if you're using a third-party autoresponder provider then they have control of your #1 business asset - your list and your deliverability rates are tied to their server reputation (which you don't control either). I've got my script set-up to automatically backup my list database on a daily basis - to a non-web accessible folder. And, because I've got the full MySQL database, I can slice and dice my list at will and make it do fancy stuff that I wouldn't be able to do with third-party providers.

3. You can change servers at will - If you have a self-hosted autoresponder script that allows you send via an external SMTP server, then you can change your e-mail delivery server at any time - without having to move your list and database. From a member "Back in 2005, I was using 1ShopppingCart and their servers got blacklisted by SpamHaus. Deliverability went through the floor - for weeks - so I had to look elsewhere for a solution and eventually moved my list to AWeber. Now, with a self-hosted autoresponder script, I can move from smtp.com to authsmtp.com or elsewhere at the click of a button if any deliverability issues arise."

I send e-mail by Pommo. It is super easy and flexible. Every user can unsubscribe by special generated link and also I can add my own lists of e-mail to subscribers.
It has got an option, where you can set how many e-mail should be sent every second and how long should be a spaces between XX numbers of e-mails. By this option, I can easily run it on shared website hosting.

If i use pommo will user get my email in junk folder or inbox?

i can send out over 16,000 emails per day hit me on skype at:

thanks for mentioning pommo, sounds like another good option. i watch a youtube tut where the guy said this was great program, but it didnt have autoresponder. http://youtu.be/TeA0xUn1ZRQ
but that video is from 2009, maybe things have changed.

I have a very good offer that can convert at 20% so just need so traffic, we can workout a 50/50 profit split

Grab hold of a copy of Interspire, install it on your domain.
Set settings to send just less than your hourly limit set by your web host. Hostgator allows 500 per hour, your host may be different so you'll need to work it out for how many to send before the limit kicks in. Interspire works by the minute IIRC so you'll need to work it out.

Create campaign and run it, done.

5000 emails per day would be around 10 hours sending on Hostgator.

hey kaistar will I have to keep the browser open for those 10 hours at 500 per hour, so once I set it , I can close my browser or even possibly turn off my computer

You'll have to keep a browser window open I'm afraid, sorry.
Got a laptop knocking about you can set and forget ?

ok thanks I need someone to help me set it up I'm willing to pay for assistance any takers

I havent seen it mentioned here yet. I just signed up with www.sendgrid.com
I signed up for the 79/month plan and I sent 10k emails over the last 2 days. Already starting to show up in spam though.. so I don't know how long lasting this will be.
Got a 15% bounce rate an 8% open rate and .5% click through rate. I'd say thats not bad for a blind promotion.

If you use powermta with interspire then you do not need to keep browser open..just schedule campaign and send..use cron setting for scheduling.
